The forest had certainly become a great deal quieter. There was the occasional snap of a twig, or the leaves rustling overhead, but the voices of her fellow guests were long lost somewhere behind her. Even that cry of pain...

Surely she wasn't that far away from everyone else.

"I should be used to this kind of silence," Talaeu muttered under her breath, steadying herself on a nearby tree to hop over a bundle of fallen limbs. "I used to travel alone like this all the time. And I'm a damned elf. Forests like these should be my second home." She then jumped, and her cloak still snagged on the thin, wooden fingers. Talaeu stumbled, wincing as she heard the fabric rip free. It wasn't a large rip, but it was just enough to make her storm a few yards forward in frustration.

She stopped abruptly, turning her head left and right sharply, and found herself without a direction to go in. Her anger faltered. She had been heading without a direction to go in the entire time. The voice of that witch had never told her which way to go. Her fists started to shake, and before she could force them still, she had drawn one of her daggers and thrown it at the nearest tree. It hissed through the air, ringing as it was lodged into it's destination, and left Talaeu breathless.

The elf hadn't done that in a very long time.

She stepped hesitantly forward and pulled the weapon free, staring at it's sharp edge as she bit her lip. As she slid it back into it's sheath, she leaned her head on the tree trunk and sighed deeply.

"Gods, what am I doing...?"
