I love it here in Michigan, but I do miss my family and friends back in Baltimore a lot. I miss my home too. While it's gorgeous here, I'll never be one of those people who crap on their former home. Maryland will always be in my heart, and I'm proud to come from there. That said, I'm super excited to see a lot of snow for the first time in my life. I think I may actually see a white Christmas! Color me crazy, but I do love snow. It's ice that scares me, and if I don't have to drive? I love to watch the snow fall~
Work has been mostly good. I got stuck with two ten hour shifts that people needed covered back to back, but I ended up with Saturday off and a three day weekend, so it worked out. I work Christmas, but I'll be off by 5 in time for Rick's family dinner. Besides, I have off the next day and New Year's Day. The pains of emergency medicine, but hey. I get time and a half. I will deal with all the holidays if I feel extra money coming my way.
I also must confess. I bought off-brand Uggs. They're hideous but comfortable as shit. Plus, they're good in the snow and super warm. I'm going to totally wear them in spring with a pink sundress and become a trend setter. :P
In other news, I found an amazing Mexican restaurant with a great gluten-free menu. Rick took me to dinner Saturday night, and I had tequila and lime marinated chicken fajitas with rice, black beans, green and red peppers, and onions. They literally make everything there fresh aside from some small things like sour cream. They have a homemade sour mix for their margaritas that is amazing, and I'm pretty sure they put crack in their salsa. They also have a New Orleans themed restaurant about a half hour from town, which also has a gluten-free menu. I think these people are my new favorites.
I also found out what a "Party Store" is! A one stop shop for liquor and beer pong and such! Hell, I'm still trying to get over the fact that I can buy alcohol in the grocery store. My favorite place is this wine only shop across from the hospital called the Blue Goat. The owner is super nice and knows more about wine than I could ever hope to know.
Now I just need to check out the vet tech program at the college and start attempting to socialize!
