Day 02 - My favorite character is Aerith Gainsborough, hands down. I started the game out preferring Tifa, but by the end of it, even after she died, Aerith had taken over. It's been how long since FFVII came out? And she's still my absolute favorite video game character. I think she's my favorite character period. I like her because she wasn't at all the innocent ball of fluff I thought she was going to be. I will argue that she had mostly good or at least not bad intentions, but she didn't always say the right things. And she wasn't an innocent angel. She had some mature lines, and seemed to pursue what she wanted pretty aggressively. She had faults and said things that weren't always the nicest things to say. She got scared, felt lonely, and had genuine emotions and fears. If she were the perfect, pure, disgustingly sweet angel so many people seem to think she was, I wouldn't have liked her nearly as much as I do. The real tragedy of her death, for me, doesn't matter in whether she knew it was coming or not. The tragedy is that she loved life, looked to the future, and was so vibrant even if the face of the shittiest of circumstances, which sometimes annoyed or surprised her companions.
Anyway, I love Aerith. I call her Aeris and type Aerith. hnnnngh am weird. But yeah. There are rants similar to this effect on my journal. So I'll leave it at that.
Honorable mentions! I should do this too. Terra Branford, Elly (Xenogears Elly. I imagine there might be other Ellys in video games), Sephiroth, Ashe, Zelda, Kidd, and Jecht. I really liked Jecht. Oh, and Midna! Probably many others. But I am beyond tired right now.
GOD, I FORGOT OVELIA FROM FFT. I even named my draenei on Moon Guard Atkascha after her even though it is LIKE FORBIDDEN to name a character after one that exists.
