in which I beg for help again!

It's no secret that I've gained quite a bit of weight. I'm working on losing it right now, but obviously that isn't going to be an over night thing. My diet is holding up, and if I just manage to get myself exercising more frequently, I think I could really be successful ( Read more... )

Thanks! I'm working on a few more. I don't have any kind of scanner, so I'll just have to keep tossing up horrible quality photots.

I'm the opposite. Well, I'm not small in that area, but even when I was smaller, I've had a big, uh, lower body.

That sounds smart. I don't think I'm devoid of fashion sense, but I never know what's going to be most flattering and am always amazing by the tricks.

Thanks! I can always use it. I'm frankly a little lost when it comes to exercise routine. I'll be honest. I'm walking a bit while listening to music right now, but I otherwise am not really good at exercising. I'm out of shape and break into a sweat easily. So, I'm walking, but I'm not sure how much of it I should do to compensate for not really being able to run yet.

My roommate went to a nutritionist and a class, so he's shared some information with me. I've been eating smaller meals more frequently and using smaller plates. I try to eat a lot of veggies and some fruits. I find it difficult to cram in all the servings I'm supposed to have in a day while keeping up with the smaller portions guideline. And taking a multi-vitamin. And drinking mainly water all day. I've completely cut soda out of my diet, which I've heard helps a lot.

Any other pointers or corrections would be awesome! I really appreciate it.

This is where the 'eat every few hours' thing comes into play - portions are smaller, but it gets your body into the mode that 'there's plenty of food' that's why starvation diets are hard - your body is designed to survive a famine, so if it notices a huge change in eating habits, it will go, "We're in trouble!" and start hoarding and weight loss will be impeded.

Another thing I'll comment on is the soda thing - "they" (experts) find that drunk calories don't tend to effect our mental calculators, (that, and the amount of sugar in soda is amazing, and Asparatame is bad for you) so if I can make a recommendation: Make your own iced tea at home, sweaten with honey. You control how much sugar is going in, and it's a good alternative to soda.

As for walking - that's good! I get bored easy (I am a sweaty beast, for the record, but I've always sweat like a guy, so go figure) but walking is a great way to exercise and it doesn't hurt your joints (I know - running burns more calories but I can explain tons of stuff to you that won't really matter but just the exercise itself is important) I probably burn more calories waitressing in a few hours than doing a high-impact workout. Just take care of your joints, and don't overtrain, okay?
