Star Trek TNG: Season 1

Jul 06, 2011 01:20

Last night I finished watching the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It was great to see the origins of the new Enterprise crew and re-watch a few episodes that I saw when I was a kid. I was kind of skeptical of this new crew as I love the Original Series but after some episodes, they are starting to grow on me. I've known that ( Read more... )

For me it was kind of weird to see a different Enterprise and a different crew, but with time I started to love it. Actually I was already hooked with the second episode.

Well, I must say that Skin of Evil is a special episode as the death of Tasha Yar moved me to tears. She was my favourite and it was sad to see her go. Actually there is no particular episode that stands out for me, Season 1 is a great introductory year to the whole new Star Trek setting.

Isn't it funny that Captain Picard who is supposed to be French has such a beautiful British accent? Wonders of Star Trek!

I think watching the end of "Skin of Evil" around the first couple of times was pretty emotional to me too years ago. I know Tasha Yar will make a couple of cameo appearances in later episodes so I'll see how that pans out. Speaking of tears, the tears that Marina Sirtis (Troi) brings out at the end of "Skin of Evil" were real. Both actresses were good friends and she was sad to see Denise Crosby leave the show.

Yeah, Season 1 was a good introduction to the series and getting to know the characters personalities. I like Picard and Riker's chemistry though it's not the same as Kirk and Spock's (and McCoy's) in TOS.

Yes, I noticed how funny they made Picard's character: British accent but with a French background. :)

Thanks for the video! I heard it was this episode but didn't know when Tasha Yar was waving. It's still difficult to see it though - I would never have known she was waving unless someone pointed it out.

By the way, how do you get a video from Youtube or whatever to link here? I'll be doing it for future entries.

I didn't watch the show when it first started because I was too busy working and going to school. I had some friends though that had a get together every week when an episode debuted and I started hanging out with them and really got into the show. I loved Tasha's character and hated to see her death but when they brought her back a few years later as a romulan I was over the moon.

I must admit though, I am more a fan of the last few seasons of DS9. The whole dominion thing and The Founders. It was such a soap opera.

I didn't watch the show as I was pretty young and wasn't into the whole sci-fi thing. I never hated Star Trek but since I didn't watch any of the series from the beginning, just watching some random episode didn't mean much to me. When I began to watch TOS in 2009, I started to see why the show was popular.

After TNG - which I hope to get done by the end of the year or early 2012, I will probably start DS9. Of course, I will need to watch the 4 TNG movies first. ;)

Season 2 review of TNG will be posted here probably before the end of the month. :)
