February 2023 Monthly Entry

Feb 19, 2023 08:51

The middle of winter has been quite good around the Lower Mainland. We did have one day of snow at the end of January, but it didn't cause chaos and it was only a small dump of it. But since last month's entry, it has been mostly on and off rain and above freezing temperatures. One more month to go and winter will return to sleep. Until then, I've reached this long weekend after over six straight weeks of shifts.

I've set up a BLUF gathering for March 11 - the first one here in Vancouver since 2019. The plan is to meet at the Fountainhead Pub at 7pm for dinner and then go to the Pumpjack Pub at 9pm for the monthly Vancouver Men in Leather social. If it's not wet outside of PJ that night, we could have cigars together too. Looking forward to reconnecting with my local and visiting fellow BLUF members! I'll take some pictures and mention how it went in next month's entry.

My 41st birthday was low key. The February 4-5 weekend I went to Bellingham with my younger sister on Saturday to shop and have lunch at a Chinese smorgasbord. We celebrated my bday with the family that Sunday afternoon with turkey dinner my mom made. I got some money from my folks and sister, which immediately went into my "future console fund" box. My sister also got me a leather submissive teddy bear as a present too! I then showed her the Leatherdaddy teddy bear I bought at Little Sister's over 20 years ago, which she liked. As a joke, since the teddy she got me had a collar and leash, I took my Daddy teddy and acted like he was leading the gimp teddy around on the collar or more accurately, dragging him around since the collar is behind his neck. My sister laughed her ass off! Hey, I was trying to be accurate LOL! I didn't have a cigar that night (the 5th) as I wanted to celebrate with Leatherdaddy Steve discretely, but I haven't heard from him lately. I've texted him in December during the winter break and left two voice messages around a couple weeks ago, but no reply. On Recon, he was last online December 9. I don't know what is going on and I fear the worst... I did have a cigar two Saturdays ago at the VML social though.

I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to Nadia, the Vice-Principal of Rosser for almost the last three years. After I uploaded  last month's entry, she was transferred to Douglas Road. I do wish her well there. The new VP, Jill, seems very nice. As for work itself, I'm still struggling to get things done on time. Kids are tracking in more fine dirt with the wet weather and the computer lab is getting used more often. There thankfully hasn't been much new graffiti lately. The guy who took over as the new permanent custodian for the daycare centre only lasted a week before taking a temporary job elsewhere. We got a new temp since Tuesday so we'll see how long her contract lasts.

The last Harry Potter film I've ever seen years ago was 2004's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Like the first one, I remembered some of this film even after one viewing compared to Chamber of Secrets. Actor Michael Gambon took over the role of Dumbledore after Richard Harris passed away. He would portray this character from here on till the end. He's honestly a good choice for a replacement. Some of the scenes with Hagrid were decent in this film. I can't say much else about it.

Now I'm going into new territory with 2005's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Honestly, it should be called The Hormones on Fire as the characters are noticing each other romantically. Besides hitting puberty, what is up with Harry and Ron's hairstyles? And I felt that their friendship being in peril was so forced. Thankfully, that plot thread didn't last long. We don't get much of Hagrid in this film outside of taking a liking to a giantess, Madame Olympe Maxime. I thought it was interesting to have two schools join Hogwarts that year: an all-female school from France and an all-male school from northern Europe. This film was more competition focused and we finally get the revival of Voldemort, which made the last act of the film worth it.

I'm working on Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below and it's likely to be done sometime in March. After that, I plan to play Shantae next. I'm almost done the second season of Sailor Moon R on CraveTV and also almost done the first season of Star Trek: Lower Decks too. I'm not sure when I'll start and finish my final thoughts entry on Star Trek: Enterprise, but I want to get into it soon.
