Oh well. On with the questions. Well some of them. Maybe more later.
1) Elizabeth Bennett and Cadfael get stuck in a lift. What happens?
I’m not surprised they’re stuck, because neither has any reason to know how lifts work. Neither of them gets particularly worked up about it and eventually by working through the possibilities reasonably and sensibly they get to the right floor.
2) Plot device of choice for a fic with Falco and Joey Maynard?
Hmm. Possibly this all takes place in Joey’s imagination, while she has been slipped another little dose/ got pneumonia yet again. She is appalled at his domestic situation (I’m thinking the Fountain court apartment here) and his relationship with Helena Justina (unmarried sex!). He is appalled at her 11 children and lack of knowledge about contraception. Nevertheless, she inserts him in her novel for adults (definitely not an adult novel) set in the 1st Century AD and surprised to receive a letter from Lindsay Davis’ solicitors….
3) Recommend a fan fic about Titty Walker
Gosh, Titty doesn’t get half as many as she deserves. Kiss by Elannare.
4) Where would Hornblower take Nicola Marlow on a date?
Now that would be the ultimate date for Nicola Marlow. Round the world on a Ship of the Line, ideally. I’m assuming Nicola is 18+ for this question.
5) Avon and Cadfael are now buddy cops. Do they make a good team and is this bad news for local criminals?
They make pretty much the ultimate team. Cadfael is one of the few people sane enough to cope with Avon. It takes a long time for Avon to learn to trust Cadfael, but even before that they are terrible news for the local criminals. The teleport helps a lot, of course. I’d say they excel mostly as detectives, although they’re both OK in a fight but rubbish at car chases.
6) Make up a summary for an apocalyptic fic featuring Nicola Marlow and Mma Ramotswe.
Plucky resourceful child and Gaborone’s Number one Ladies detective avert the end of the world. Full story on page 7.
7) If Thursday Next and Asterix were a couple how they meet and would it work out?
Thursday Next book jumps into the backstory of the Asterix books, posing as Asterix’s fiancée to sort out some fiction infractions. As a relationship it doesn’t go anywhere, Thursday Next being a woman and Asterix not really showing that much interest, but Obelix, who is in on the secret of Thursday’s real identity, nevertheless gets jealous of Thursday’s close working relationship with Asterix. However it all gets sorted out in the end and Cacofonix composes a heroic song about events but doesn’t get to sing it at the village feast.
8) Nancy Blackett, Mma Ramotswe and Elizabeth Bennett go on an epic road trip. Where are they going, who drives and who gets left behind at the first stop?
The original plan was for Nancy and Precious to share the driving, but since I’m guessing the little white van would have synchromesh gears and I’m guessing Rattletrap didn’t, Mma Ramotwse, alarmed by the fact that Nancy keeps attempting to double declutch and has a driving style similar to her mother’s, decides to do all the driving herself. No-one who get left behind out of malice or carelessness. Perhaps Nancy or Elizabeth get left behind to do some type of investigation under cover for Mma Ramotswe. One of them gets a job in the filling station to see which of the owner’s two sons is embezzling money from the till. Nancy probably.
9) In a coffee shop type AU with Hornblower and Joey Maynard, what would their establishment be called?
Whatever Joey wanted it to be called. She’s quite convinced her opinion must be right. Possibly “the featherbed of cream”. Horatio is quite relieved to have coffee that actually contains coffee, biscuits without weevils and fresh bread so he sticks it out for a long time.
10) What would be the title for a romance novel/ film featuring Asterix and Titty Walker?
After what I’ve just said, I don’t think it would be featuring Asterix and Titty as a couple, so I’ll have to use romance in its widest sense. Umm, Titty Walker is the inspiration for a brave resourceful girl the legendary lost Asterix book, Asterix and the explorers, in which Asterix, Obleix and of course Dogmatix join the crew of a shipsailing round the world and meet a female Chinese pirate.
11) Would to prefer and evening out with Nancy or Falco?
Both evenings would probably involve hiding, running away, and climbing over walls and be absolutely one of the best of my life. I really like both of these characters. With Falco it might involve being poisoned, sword fights, being beaten up and a reasonable chance of contracting malaria. Head (and loyalty to my husband) say take the evening with Nancy and come back stuffed with ginger beer and seedcake, but Falco makes me go weak at the knees. Sorry Nancy. I’ve got a friend who might like to ask you out, though.
12) Who is your favourite pairing for Thursday?
Landen Parke-Laine, of course. Thursday and Falco would be interesting, but please don’t mention to Helena Justina that I suggested it.
