Shopping!

I've been rather naughty, spending money I shouldn't be.

I bought some quilt/doona covers from Target in Ringwood the other day really cheap from the soiled and damaged rack, not because they were damaged, but because they were display stock that was dirty or without packaging.

One was this cute sky blue colour with little white doves, silver sparkly print stuff, and brown trimming, and two matching pillow cases. I think it was originally like $80, and I got it for $20. But its a double bed, and I thought it was Queen. And because I want to get a Queen sized doona when I eventually move out, it will be too small. But its too big for my current single bed. I guess I could cut it smaller and make a couple of cushion covers or something, but that might look wrong because of the brown trimming down the sides.

So if any of you have a double bed and would like a quilt cover (including matching pillows and the original packaging [although the packaging is slightly damaged]) you can buy it from me for $20. Its got a little dirty spot (just from dust from being on display) but nothing the washing machine won't fix.
If anyone's interested I'll take a photo of it so you can see the pattern and decide whether you like it or not.

Otherwise I might try to sell it on eBay and maybe make a little profit. Or attempt to cut it up.

The other quilt cover I bought was a simple chocolatey brown one with embroided stripes around the edges. This one was a Queen (so I'm going to keep it) but it had no pillow cases. I got it for $20 reduced from $130. I really like it, so today I went to Target in Chirnside and then Target in Knox, and I finally found the matching pillow cases! Two pillow cases cost me $25! And that's more than I paid for the actual quilt cover. Oh well, at least I have a matching set now. I just need a Queen sized doona to go inside it! I'll wait til we have a sale on doona's and I'll get myself a nice duck feather down one. I saw one reduced from $199 to $119 a few days ago, but now I've missed the 40% off sale. I'll just have to wait til they go on sale again. And I figure I won't worry about buying Queen size fitted sheets or anything yet, I'll just start with the doona, because when I do eventually move out, even if I keep my single bed, I can still use a Queen size doona over the single bed (more to snuggle into), or if I have friends sleep over then I have a big doona for them to share on the floor. Everybody wins. I can worry about actually getting a bigger bed later on.

The other thing I bought was some sets of towels. They had packs with 2 bath towels + 1 hand towel + 1 face washer for like $13 reduced from like $30 or $40. I was so excited! I bought two packs, a nice coffee brown one, and a creamy sandstone coloured one. They also had celery green, berry red, blackcurrent purple, sky blue, aqua blue, snow white, and cream (which was more yellowy than the sandstone). I would've bought a stack of them, but due to limited arms and limited funds, I decided against it.

Everything is locked away in the boot of my car now, waiting for when I move out (which could be two months, or two years... who knows?).

Then I also stopped off at my grandparents house for a cuppa and a chat. I told them nicely that I didn't want them to buy me diamond earrings like they had been planning to for my 21st. Rather, that I would prefer a bone china tea set, with a teapot and matching milk jug and sugar bowl and cups and saucers and little cake plates. Its something I would definitely use, and its also something I will cherish and can pass on to my children one day.

Then I came home and there was a note in the letter box saying there was a parcel waiting for me at Croydon Post Office! I went and picked it up, and it was my iPod back! Finally after 4 months! I was so excited! Alice is plugged in now, so hopefully she will work again. I'm glad I don't have to wait for her anymore!

And speaking of waiting for things, for those of you who might have been wondering, I finally got my period! 9 weeks is a long time. But everything seems to be back to normal now. Phew!
