Dear Yuletide Author

Oct 23, 2014 01:37

Oh god! This is my first year ever trying Yuletide! I HOPE I AM DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT. I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT TO WRITE IN THIS POST. I'm basically reading other people's letters and copying what they're including. I've edited this innumerable times.

Thank you, kind author, for writing me a thing!

This is my AO3 account, for the, uh, limited amount of good that will do you, with the whole five fics and one bookmark I have I HAVE SOME BOOKMARKS NOW. There doesn't appear to be an option anywhere to list things I've given Kudos, which might be more useful.

The good: I love girls in love, and I love plotless fluff where there is no antagonist or anything really going wrong there's just people getting to be happy for once. HAPPY QUEER PEOPLE (mostly girls), FOREVER. As you may be able to tell from the above bit about tags, I love monster girls of basically any possible variety so if you feel the need to work that in somewhere knock yourself out. Domestic is more than acceptable. I don't really care what's going on in the story, as long as it's going to give me cavities. Smut is fine. BDSM is fine, see below for antipreferences within that. If you really want to do kink, make it breathplay and you'll make me very happy. (Other kink things that are acceptable: bondage, fire, knives, flogging/spanking/whipping.) Lots of physical affection and kissing and cuddling and stuff is wonderful. Antagonistic affection - "hey asshole" and other such friendly insults - is great, as long as they genuinely care about each other and no one's hurt by it. Hurt/comfort is okay, though it's not My Thing. Poly makes me very happy. I'm okay with sweet best friends kind of gen if you're not comfortable writing femslash (except with May and Jazz, who are canon), but really what I want in life is queer everywhere. Also found/chosen families are the best.

The bad: I desperately hate reading about people agonizing about being queer, in case that's relevant. No prejudice, no coming out stories. Similar dislike for other depictions of real-world prejudice. What I want is escapism and pretending those things don't exist. No anal/scat/watersports/vomit. No like, suspension with hooks or needleplay/play piercing. To be weirdly specific. Really, no syringes in general please. And no cockroaches. It seems unlikely that would come up, but better safe than sorry? Phobic. Further Oddly Specific: no penises shown/mentioned/described/the existence of acknowledged. No noncon. Please. No A/B/O Omegaverse, if that's... somehow relevant to requests that are mostly girls. If for some reason you are mentioning a wound, please don't go into detail because that makes my entire skin twitch and it's weird and unpleasant. No embarrassment/humiliation at all ever please.

So! Fandoms that I am requesting.

October Daye Series - Seanan McGuire
May Daye, Jasmine "Jazz" Patel

I loooove the Toby Daye books. They're great. I love the setting, I love the different types of fae everywhere. I love the stuff that gets revealed later - May's heritage? SO GREAT. (Aaaah and she can't be party to her family's lives anymore because [spoilers] aaaaah POOR MAI) Jazz not caring if her girlfriend is an omen of death 'in her spare time'? SO VERY GREAT. I love Jazz and May to death. I love how bouncy and chipper and interestingly punky May is. I love that there are Ravenmaids and they have flocks and they're as mischevious as any corvid. CUTE PSYCHOPOMPS IN LOVE. That is what I want. If the psychopomp part actually comes into play, I will be completely delighted, because PSYCHOPOMPS. (This means other people can die and as long as May and Jazz stay reasonably happy I will still count it as fluff. Because they're psychopomps and death is inevitable. I like the word psychopomp almost as much as the concept. Psychopomp.) Reasonably cheerful day in the life of some kind - Jazz with her flock? May meeting the flock? May and Jazz thrift shopping or combing antique stores? Jazz helping May dye her hair improbable colors? I would really love something about exactly what being a psychopomp involves for Jazz.

The Turn of the Story - Sarah Rees Brennan
Elliot Schafer, Luke Sunborn, Serene-Heart-in-the-Chaos-of-Battle

I could have sworn I had read somewhere that this was supposed to end in an OT3, so I was really disappointed when it didn't. (I kind of felt betrayed, which is irrational because it must not have actually been promised by the author, but nevertheless.) I feel like it would have worked out really well. Platonic relationship between Luke and Serene, obviously, given that Luke only likes boys, but that doesn't stop them being a little triad. Elliot is bi! They're the most important people in the world to him! AND THE SERENE DOESN'T EVEN LIKE HIM LIKE THAT AND I WANTED TO PUNCH THE STORY IN THE FACE. Ahem. I mean. Please give me happy fluffy Luke/Elliot and Elliot/Serene and Luke and Serene continuing to be swordsisters. Why do I keep typing 'Serence'? Luke can be with Dale as well as Elliot if you want! It can be while they're in the camp, or later when they're off to war and things. Is Elliot bullying everyone into letting him follow the war-training kids again? Have Luke and Serene given in to the inevitable and lobbied for his inclusion? Is Elliot inconveniently stopping another war that the humans in charge oops were actually trying to cause on purpose?

Please no smut for this one; mentions/descriptions of penises freak me out.

Ever After High
Madeline "Maddie" Hatter, Raven Queen

I am firmly convinced that Raven and Maddie are a Thing. (That must have been so disappointing when Apple got Headmaster Grimm to switch her into Raven's room instead of Maddie.) I adore Maddie. I love her Riddlish and her talking to the narrators and her completely not caring what anyone thinks of her and her out of the blue tea parties. And I think she and Raven have a fabulous dynamic and they are sweet and are definitely in love. Fluffy femslash, please! Oh, and please don't include anyone being a jerk to Maddie about her being 'crazy'. Tea parties, having lunch, studying in the library. Feel free to bring in other characters. I love basically everyone.

Bend It Like Beckham (2002)
Jess Bhamra, Jules Paxton

This movie should 1200% have been about lesbians. I was so frustrated whenever they were fighting over the stupid football coach. FORGET HIM. MAKE OUT. SHE'S WAY BETTER FOR YOU. Join me in pretending that it was actually about lesbians! More fluffy femslash, please. It could be after they've gone off to college in America together! I would even prefer it if you pretend neither of them was ever interested in the coach. What's college in America like? Culture shock! Someone else prompted for something about Jules first touching Jess's scars and I went ooh that sounds great.

Wendy Trilogy - SJ Tucker
Green-Eyed Sue

This is the one you want if you got matched to me for something else and you're stuck writing it! (I am also delighted if you got matched to me for this. It had never occurred to me to write fic about it, but I read someone else's letter with a request and suddenly I had 800 words of a treat and this universe definitely needs lots of fic.)

The entire canon is three songs, which you can listen to and read the lyrics of right here, in a total of less than twenty minutes:

The Wendy Trilogy I: Wendy on Board
The Wendy Trilogy II: Red-Handed Jill
The Wendy Trilogy III: Green-Eyed Sue/Sue's Jig

Awesome badass girls doing their thing! Sue has a backstory that could be detailed, or events after the songs when she's Admiral on her own. An exploration of what it means to be the Admiral of the Fairy Fleets would be amazing, either while Wendy is captain or while Sue is. I would be more than happy to get femslash of her and Wendy or her and an OC Lost Girl (or fairy or monarch or anyone really). But if you're stuck on one of my other prompts because you only want to do gen, I'm super happy with just gen here! I love SJ Tucker's work so much. Lost Girls Pirate Academy!

Thank you, dear author!
