Yeah, this sure does sound and feel like Amber. :-) I love the notion that not all of House's hallucinations were really hallucinations, that she was messing with him -- and I also love it that she's forgiven him and cares about him. Because I really think she did care about him, and a lot more than she ever let on.

Off-topic, I'm smiling at your music note. Cripple Creek by Buffy Sainte-Marie. *g* Love her. That song was on a record I grew up with.

I'm happy that you Got It bigtime. Fun to play with the hallucinations idea.

An early draft had Amber talking about how much she secretly dug House and the H/W. Thrilled that you saw what I tried to show instead of tell.

Thanks for the permisssion to refer to your wonderful story.

Off-topic, yay Buffy! Also, I'm a fan of your art.

Thanks! I'm at Chez Greyhound today and was just sketching Biscuit again. :-)

I've learned in the last couple years that generally, when I question whether to bluntly expose something in my stories or to half-bury it and trust the readers to dig it out for themselves, the answer is to trust the readers. Good call on that.

I did notice you played with the timeline a little, since the original fic was set prior to the purchase of the bed (and thus also prior to the whispering, and the trying to sleep in the Shrine). It was the only thing that gave me pause, but then I suppose that, for ghosts, time is definitely not a fixed construct.

So much love for House taking sleeping pills. He's got to be doing something we don't see onscreen, because managing his level of pain with freaking ibuprofen? Medical FAIL, show. And the thing about the Marines snarking about House and Wilson felt like a gut-punch. You know at least a few of them thought exactly that.

Once upon a time, I ALWAYS had a sketchbook by my side. You have my permission to hound me to start drawing again. I don't do realism, like you, but my own freaky wild messes always gave me gladness ( ... )

Er ... Mare here, goofing off as the Collective this afternoon.

I'd enjoy seeing some of your drawings, I think. :-)

And I can easily believe that Wilson didn't get a bed for House, because House didn't ask. It's apparent in the next episode that House didn't even indicate to Wilson how long he'd be staying there. When House asked, he got what he wanted right away. While I understand why Amber may be annoyed about it, I'm not sure she's being entirely fair. Being dead, she can read House's mind, but Wilson can't.

I'd never have known you were away from writing for so long. The blocking-up seems to have happened -- and then started to clear -- for a lot of people lately, myself included. Which is why I'm logged into the Ciggie account and beginning to play with the next part of Distress Call tonight.

House didn't ask? Good point! Maybe someday, when they know each other better, Wilson will remember that House is in pain. God, I'm snarky. Sorry, it's the Amber in me. Amber? Fair?

You're right about House. He's pathologically unable to state plainly his needs, or perhaps even to know what they are and that he's entitled to them. If these guys ever learn to talk to each other, will the show explode?

I love your concrit. Do you beta? Srsly.

I have only a few photos of drawings uploaded; the printer/scanner died. I guess I could put them in my userpics?

So very glad to hear you're writing again! I wasn't aware of the er widespread blockage. My life's been crazy and I've had difficulty concentrating. I look forward to your next fic and I'm happy your Muse is attending.

I get where you're coming from, but I think House's well-being is ultimately House's responsibility. House seems to share that viewpoint, which is why he stayed the course at Mayfield with Dr. Nolan and why he's been working so hard to make sure he's all right now that he's out. House is mature enough, responsible enough, strong enough to do all that, and I respect him deeply for every bit of it. So. If the sofa was bothering him, and if he planned to stay long enough to justify the purchase of a bed, I believe it was House's responsibility to say so. Which, eventually, he did, and I was proud of him for that.

(ETA that I don't agree at all that He's pathologically unable to state plainly his needs. We've seen him stating his needs rather a lot lately, particularly to Cuddy and occasionally to Wilson, and finding that his friends will give him what he needs if he asks. Something he can't learn if they do everything before he asks for it ( ... )
