I've got no direction.

Oh, Oklahoma directions, I forgot all about you these many years I've been not living there.

Actually, there are two kinds of Oklahoma directions. Just as a neutral sample, here's the kind of directions I give, as a CTA user in Chicago:

Me: Get on the brown line, take it north to Western. Exit through the rotating doors, walk under the tracks until you get to Lincoln Avenue, turn right, walk down a block to 4450 N Lincoln. Ta-da!

Eastern Oklahoma directions (mainly involving city driving), courtesy my stepmom: Get into Tulsa. From there, take Muskogee turnpike/51, take it to highway 69, . Get to the first exit, the one with the McDonald's, it'll be the 26 mile marker. exit to right (south), across the river, into town. You'll go 4 or so miles, there'll be a grocery store on your left, turn left... now, let me count the stoplights... there'll be a Habitat for Humanities across the street... on and on.

Still, Eastern Oklahoma directions are possibly better than rural Western Oklahoma directions, as given by most of the people on my dad's side of the family:

So, head out on the highway. You're gonna pass one grain elevator, it'll say "Arapaho", then you're gonna pass another. I forget what it says. (Yell at relative to find out what it says, to no avail.) Anyhow, turn right after that second grain elevator next time you can, which'll be about a half-mile up. You're gonna head out for maybe 15, 20 miles. There'll be a sign, it's just gonna say "Church" and point left. Take that left. After about 7 more miles, there's gonna be a broken-down lookin' shack on your left, and then one on your right a couple miles furter....

I guess this explains why, when my dad got married in Eastern Oklahoma, it took my relations from Western Oklahoma a couple of hours to find the reception.
