Moto: really very good. Lots of stuff done involving liquid nitrogen, including my favorite thing (pancakes!). Only one part of one dish was a complete failure (part of the cotton candy three ways dish--it was like a funnel cake made out of vermicelli noodles with very little flavor), but the other two parts of the dish (cotton candy paper and truffle) were quite good. I also had a cocktail called an "SPF 45", with aloe vera, watermelon, yuzu, and lemon--very yummy.
Hyde Park Parties Did Not Almost Kill Me: On Saturday,
emperorjan,
costello1177, and I went down to Hyde Park to go to an undergrad party. As the North Side Old(er) People, we brought the good booze and quickly retreated to the uncrowded area of the party, away from the kitchen. This party happened to take place in the 3rd floor apartment of the building where
mrvoid and
shaph used to live. Therefore, I can honestly claim that I've been to louder parties in that building. I was thus very confused when the UofC cops visited, gave us a stern talking-to, left for awhile, then came back up and busted up the party. Busted up the party! Which was not all that rollicking yet!
I mean, when the cops came to a party I attended in Evanston, they (1) were real Evanston cops, not the Uni-Po; (2) mocked the lameness of the party; (3) encouraged someone to freshen up my drink after they checked my ID; (4) left us alone after warning us not to go outside with open containers, the reason for their arrival.
Apparently, after the rent-a-cops left, the party gathered back up and had a good time, but it was ridiculous. No one but the weakest-livered could've even consumed enough to be drunk yet, and the music wasn't so loud as the prohibit talking in the same room. I am confused.
