Mix CD help?

Aug 20, 2007 09:32

So, I need to make a mix CD this evening.

The overriding theme of the mix exchange is "nothing about love". So I've decided my theme will be "Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll! (plus some stuff in other languages)".

So far, I have:
Dynamic Calories by Steven Malkmus & the Jicks
Formed a Band by Art Brut
Maybe something by the Hold Steady, as it could be about both Drugs and Rock & Roll, but I'll have to find a song that doesn't talk about girls
White Freight Liner by Townes Van Zandt
Palmcorder Yajna by The Mountain Goats
Something off the Trainspotting Soundtrack, because really
Always Crashing in the Same Car by David Bowie
... and some stuff in Portuguese and gibberish Japanese/English amalgam (the latter would be "Skip! Skip!" by Mummy the Peepshow)

So, any other recommendations for either "Drugs" or "Rock & Roll"? My exchange recipient's tastes run toward the indie side, I've learned from her last.fm profile, but I'm willing to throw in some non-indie stuff (see: Townes Van Zandt).
