Feb 29, 2008 16:18

If this information comes as a surprise to you, you are not alone. I, too, was surprised to learn this information. While I did know that I have White ancestry, I did not know that I am an actual White person.

I made this discovery upon perusing anne-jumps’s journal and stumbling across an entry that contained a link to this site: Read more... )

I laughed SO HARD reading this. But, as a fourth-generation Asian I feel that I am so banana that I don't even need this test to tell me how white I am. Nevertheless, here are some of my favorites:

(re) precedes the ones that really didn't suit me

#3 Film Festivals, but I think I deserve a pass for this one given my hobby
#4 Assists - when I played soccer and basketball, all I did was pass. True story.
re #8 - no way. Hillary 4 Prez.
re #10 - I DISLIKE Wes Anderson movies
re #12 - NPOs don't pay well
#14 Having Black Friends - have you BEEN to one of my birthday parties?!
re #16 - if I ever had kids I wouldn't have to debate if they were gifted. Asian parents just know this about their kids. :P
#19 Traveling - O HAI that's me. oops.
re #22 - "Your parents are divorced? Why don't you hyphenate your last name?" "Because then my last name would be ooh-ee-ooh-aah-ahh ching-chang walla-walla bing-bang, you stupid fucker."
re #23 - this is SO true! Just look at the beer white people bring to parties.
re #35 - I think I must be the only person who went to college who doesn't watch either of these shows.
re #45 - I DISLIKE fusion food.
#47 Arts Degrees - that's me! Twice!
#51 Living by the water - YES! But it's not because I like to BE in the water, it's where all the good cities are.
#55 Apologies - As an Asian, this is hardwired into my genes.
#67 Standing Still At Concerts - HELL YES mofo. I don't want your ass ape dancing in front of me getting in my way. Also I don't want you singing along mucking up my recording. I paid to hear the band, not you. You hear me?
re #68 - I don't like Michel Gondry either
#70 Difficult Breakups - you might as well just give me the twinkie award right now.
#72 Study Abroad - guilty
#73 Gentrification - that too
#75 Threatening to move to Canada - I threaten to go to Europe or join the Peace Corps. Canada Shmanada.
#76 Bottles of Water - yup

I think I might post a more expanded version of this in my journal.

Okay, I have to ask: people actually ask you why don't you hyphenate your last name because your parents are divorced?! I fail to understand how that makes sense.

My reason for liking hyphenated names is because I'm a feminist and I'm huge on ancestry. I don't feel like one half of your ancestry/history should be erased because your father has a penis and therefore "wins" in the name department.

And you just reminded me of another post I need to write: Why I Hate Hillary Clinton.

I don't understand the logic either. I remember getting into a debate with this girl I dated who said that even if she got knocked up by some guy she never talked to again, she'd want to give the kid his name. Why, I said, when it's your child, you shouldn't have to adhere to social conventions. She's like, well why do you have your dad's last name when he's never been part of your life. Good point. I thought about changing my name to my mom's but I realize I don't like my family so I like being different.
