she woke up laughing. someone once told her that at the core of every joke was something so heartbreaking that human beings lack the ability to acknowledge it completely. she tore open her curtains, ignoring the first cigarette craving of the day. it was 7 am. the sea looked like the morning after glass table tops she'd spent so much time scouring. fucking paradise. she was so in love with this place, terrified to miss any part of it, to take it for granted like she did everything else. she wanted to wrap her body in the depths of the water, she wanted to stuff the sun into the marrow of her bones.
