This is a plea for everyone to back off of each other, take a step away from your issues, and realize that everyone else is going through the same thing.
that's not to undermind what you're feeling or having to deal with. we are all stressed, we all feel pressure coming from somewhere about something. we are all dealing with endless homework, midterms, huge projects, irritated significant others (or significant others who just don't seem to care), crabby roommates, family troubles, personal issues, and illness. not to mention shows opening right and left that we need to critique.
it came into perspective to me today when i heard two people in class actually argue over who's life was more stressful at the moment (exact words "lets compare lives right now"). come on, people, we are all human. all going through a hard time. we're all crazy busy and would LOVE to be doing ANYTHING other than what we have to get done.
i would love to ignore the four weeks of acting hw i've fallen behind on, two big projects plus daily quizes in costume design, a research paper/group presentation/and daily readings and quizes for theatre history, another acting scene to work on, tech week for little shop falling on the SAME WEEKEND as the two days i have to cast my final scene for directing WHILE rehearsing a music scene in the mean time AND trying to get my prompt book at least somewhat put together in addition to having to continue to have 7-11 rehearsals for "little night music" for PA for practicum, WHILE also having to push out plays right and left for my playwriting class (10 pager due tomorrow) and having a cast of 14 call me constantly to ask my seemingly ridiculous questions. on top of that i have issues with my best friend now and again, family issues, parents freaking out over things i can't control, and countless other things i can name.
my point: not that i'm busy, but EVERYONE IS GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING!
i was in the costume shop today and those poor girls are going to be SO insanely busy coming up here soon with little night music costumes and only have 2 DAYS to make ulterations. for a cast that size, ALL of them having multiple costumes....i don't want to hear ANYONE in that cast complaining about ANYTHING having to do with their costume.
take a minute or two to yourself. breath of a moment everyday and you will get through it. it sucks, yes. but unless you have some "easy button" like they do on the commercials, you have to grunt throught it as best you can.
in the mean time, LAY OFF EACH OTHER! we all know you're stressed...don't think you're the only one.
