I decided to make a shiva call to my dead friend's sisters. One lives in Long island in this ginormous house on the water in Merrick. I swear my apartment would fit into her bedroom.
The three sisters were truly glad I came and I was glad tony went with me. He did know her briefly as he met her several times back in the 80s in Hellfire. Thats is where Cindy and I hung out. We did so many drugs then.... I remember doing acid with her in HF and watching a guy get double fisted while hanging from the stocks.. it was pretty amazing....
So J with the fabulous house and the kids (one of them "is following in Cindy's footsteps") and fake nails and the very long island im big in hadassah stuff
and the other sister who has twin boys who lives in Atlanta whose favorite things to do are lunch with friends and shop... no she does not work
and the youngest sister who is a pilot and uses to be a dyke and if you ask me still is, there with her husband ... an absolute sweetie of a guy who tests parachutes for a living.
They were all so different from Cindy... who died from Hepatitis C from sharing needles so many years ago. I had a good time with Cindy in the 80s.... we did so much and lives on the edge all the time.
Cindy got into shooting smack and I did not. She was beaten up by a guy on a steady basis and had been in and out of rehab several times. When she finally got it together, the state paid for her to go to school to become a massage therapist and when she did, she got arrested for medicaid fraud then smoking crack in the bathroom at grand central station.
She went to a nursing home in the last few years and managed to get herself thrown out and was living in a motel. And she was not well.
The family told me stories of how they had given her money and took her places and no matter what she never seemed to appreciate any of it and couldn't get it together.
So sad....
you could tell they were "relieved" that she is gone.. they had lots of guilt .....
it was a rather odd night. Nobody who knew Cindy other than myself and Tony were there....
