Biography: On September 22nd, year 1993 of the human race, a star was born. He wasn’t known as Junior then, not as the world famously knows him now. Back then he was simply ‘Jinyoung’. He came into the world with two hands, two feet. Ten fingers and ten toes. His eyes sparkled. Nay, they glittered. People say his laughter eased the ailments of other young children in the hospital and that all the young nurses sighed because of what a beautiful babe he was.
Or at least, that’s how Jinyoung imagines the first paragraph of his biography will end up reading once he reaches his goal of becoming a world famous pro League of Legends player. Most of it would be true. Some of it would be embellished, but you see, that’s just good considered good storytelling.
It’d be mentioned, of course, that Jinyoung grew up within Seoul, to a family of moderate means. He didn’t want for anything but neither was his family filthy rich. Call it upper middle class, then. They were good to him, provided for him, and he in turn excelled in school, easily making it up from primary school to secondary school. He made good marks and somehow managed it by putting in the least amount of effort and time as humanly possible.
Because, lo and behold, he had talents that lay outside of the educational field.
Dreams of becoming a pro gamer spawned first in high school while Jinyoung was still playing old expansions of the original Starcraft. These dreams only became a reality, however, with the creation of League of Legends three years ago. Jinyoung took to MOBAs (multiplayer online battle arenas) like a fish to water, finding that he had a skill for them that had never surfaced when he was playing real-time strategy games.
His plan had been to drop from school completely after high school to pursue this new passion, but at his parents’ insistence he decided to attend Yonsei. At random, he picked Zoology because it sounded like the most interesting out of the biology majors (the bullshit majors, in his mind), but deigned to sign up for any sports or clubs. All his extra time goes to streaming and gathering both a fanbase and a team that he one day hopes will make it big.
It was by pure fluke that Jinyoung joined BCT. He hadn’t actually meant to rush in his freshman year, but through a series of shenanigans (all of them involving best friend Im Jaebum) it came to pass, and he’s been in the fraternity since then. For the better, in all likelihood. At least there’s always food to steal in the middle of the night.
Personality: Jinyoung is the sort of person that one looks at and thinks, wow, this guy has way too much energy. He’s always up, about, typically energetic for one of two reasons - energy drinks or actually having slept for more than three or four hours straight. Ever excitable, personal space has never been anything that he’s paid much mind to, and because his time is precious he’s generally direct and to the point. Sincerity is something he often trades himself on, and he does his best to be honest. But Jinyoung’s greatest faults are a streak of cockiness and a slow rolling aggression and temper he’s developed through competitive gaming - both of which he tries to keep strictly online.
