Another open mic has come and gone. They seem to have a magick all their own. I played a few old songs and even jammed with an old friend. I loved it. I sang songs about relationships and songs about my daughters. What else is there?
I started with a song written over the course of 12 years. Inspired by a trip to Virginia. It has no real name, I have called it: "How Many Times."
I then played a song written about my daughter, Sammi, while she was still in her Mom's belly. A love song to a baby as it were. It's titled: "I Believe In You."
I ended my first set with a song inspired by the movie, "The Crow." It's titled: "Nothing's Trivial."
After a few other performers of exceptional quality I braved another set and jammed with my friend Michael. Together we did unrehearsed versions of my song: "Where Do I Go To Surrender," and a song written about a child custody case titled: "Thinkin' 'Bout Courtney."
All in all it was a good night. I was not entirely pleased with my performances but it seemed most of the audience enjoyed them. Actually, if I ever get around to recording some of these songs, one audience member said he wants a copy of the CD. I am honored and humbled.
Unfortunately my beautiful Vesta had to work so she was unable to attend. Special thanks to everyone who came out for me, especially Amy and Karen, my friend Debbie, and Quentin, Gabby and Tyler. Gabby even drew me a picture of us, she is a very sweet little girl. I got a hug too.
Looking forward to the next songpull. I'll keep you all posted.
