One more reason to hate the Yankees

Jun 30, 2004 13:46

From the NY TImes sports page:
It was an important victory for the Yankees, and not only because they played well in front of their principal owner, George Steinbrenner, while he entertained Vice President Dick Cheney, Governor George E. Pataki and former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani in his private box.

Grrrr...

Wait...Steinbrenner is friends with Cheney? Do we really need more proof of the whole "evil empire" thing? :)

I second the "grrrr". I love the Times, but avoid the sports page just for the sake of avoiding such articles.

I wonder how much all those snipers get paid to defend the VP? I wonder how much it costs to start a homeless shelter? I wonder why Cheny is allowed that much protection when we could clearly be doing better things than defend Satan from harm?

madamebovary calls her dad last night:

M: hi dad!
Dad: are you at the game?
M: no?
Dad: Why not?
answer i should have given: I didn't want to get beaten by yankees fans for wearing my Boston hat
answer i gave: I'm broke, and i didn't know it was going on.

perhaps tomorrow night will find me at a sports bar with other boston fans in the program drinking CHEAP beer and getting pummelled. (i meant myself getting pummelled, not the sox.)

Even if i move here, I will remain a boston fan.

YANKEES SUCK.

Well, they certainly don't suck--they are just evil.

Sports = Business = Money = Power

We are capitalism, it doesn't exist independently of the subjects who enact it, so, in a word, we are money, we are power. Problem is that no on seems to care so people like Steinbrenner and Cheney get to make decisions while we aren't paying attention.

I wasn't so much surprised to see him there, after all, he is as evil as the Yankees. I just though it rather absurd to have riflemen in the light-towers at a baseball game.

No Kidding!

How about last night! Oh man! I thought it was all over when Manny hit the homer... of course, so did half of Boston.
