Welcome home?

Wow it's been a while since I posted anything here. Fortunately, I actually have something to say. I just got back into my second home-city of Fredericton. This weekend, I went to see an old friend band play at one of the clubs in town and one of the things he said to me is "Welcome home." Now I find this interesting because I've always considered my home to be in Ontario. Hearing this, however, made me think - what exactly is home, and what makes it home to me. I have to say, that hearing my friend say "welcome home" threw into very sharp relief my ideas as to what home was - my base and where I was AT home. Now, however, I have to say, I've come to a different conclusion. Home isn't necessarily where your base is, or where your heart is. It's where your friends are. Is Niagara my home? Yes. I have some of the best friends I have there, and I have a wonderful life there. Fredericton too, however is also home. As the welcome I recieved back from several people has shown - my friends here are as good as any I could hope for, and this place is as much my home as is Niagara. I never thought I'd say this, but it really is good to be home. As good as it is to be home in my other home. To my friends in both provinces - thank you for making both places my home.
