So last Wednesday in Bio Lab we were going to do this experiment that tested the triggering of action potentials in your forearm that make your fingers move. They said it works best on males and skinny males at that so I was pretty much already signed up to do so I did. They had flat electrode that was taped onto the back of my hand. They had me put some kind of conductive jelly on the back of my hand so that I "won't get burns on my hand." That made me feel awesome right off the bat. Then I took the other electrode and put it on my arm and then the TA came around to check to make sure the settings were correct. He said they were okay so another group member hit the switch to give a pulse. ZAP! My hand jumped up about a foot off the table. It both scared and made me laugh. The TA looked at the controls and the voltage was set at max (4-5 times more than we were supposed to have). There's strike two. I had to keep moving the electrode on my forearm around to find the muscles that trigger finger movement and then we tested to see how much they jump when a pulse is given to them. Then we had to figure out how many pulses per second would cause tetany or make the muscles in my hand stay locked. I was funny to see my hand moving without me doing anything to it. After the experiment the places on my forearm were the electrode were were red and kind of puffy. So it was a scary and funny lab all in one! YAY! Saturday was the Alumni Golf Outing and we golfed for a whole 2.5 holes before it was called off and we sat in the club house for 2 hours waiting to the rain to let up. Yesterday I was elected Historian, Public Relations Chair again, and Fundraising Co-Chair. Today I had the last class for screenprinting and to tell you the truth my shirts turned out a whole lot better than I thought they would. Tomorrow I'm gonna burn and blow out the screen for this summer's rush. I'm pumped to see something I've been putting some much time and effort into actually taking shape. Dead week is here thankfully are next week so I'm pumped to be out of school. The week of the 16th I'm going up to the Lake with my dad and uncle to catch us some walleye! Anyone wanna come?
Love,
Mike
