I'm CMSgt Thierry Martin and I'll be your CO for the duration of your training at CCMI; SMSgt Maxwell, MSgt Fisher, Barton and Rossiello will be your instructors. For the next 30 days you will be asked to work until your hands fall off, some of you might not be accustomed to this sort of labor and for that I apologize, this will not be an easy month.
You've been invited to join and train at SAEMAC because you are the best of the best in your field but don't get cocky, you are expendable. We can always find new ITs if you're not up to par so don't assume this will be a cakewalk just because you're good at what you do. If you were looking out the windows when you arrived on base you saw the sort of technology you'll be working with. You don't have a damn clue what it is, right? You'll understand it soon enough. Those are the AFF's Mechanized Avionics -- MechA if you will -- the fairy tale of all fairy tales regarding secret technology. You'll be learning how to fix, fly and command these babies and if you do well enough, you can even keep it. Sort of. But enough jibber jabber, you'll have plenty of hands-on time with them starting tomorrow.
You'll notice the barracks' floor is separated by gender, you're welcome to be anywhere you'd like during free time but the moment we hit lights out you better be in your own bed. Do not break curfew. I am not your mother, I will not give you a slap on the wrist if you're not where you need to be at lights out. Failure to conform to curfew will result in ejection from the program, like I said earlier: You are expendable. Do not cover for your roommate, it will only lead to your own ejection.
Each of you have received a PAWS unit, these are your portable work stations and will be yours for the rest of this training. These are your lifeline to SAEMAC: notes, schematics, strategies, calendars. Everything you need to know and learn will be kept in these. Damaged or lost PAWS units will be replaced but for a price to be decided by me, you don't want to find out what this price is. They will also serve as a personal communication device so you can easily keep connected to the CCMI Networks and other ITs.
And while I know you've all just got here and put your things down, I'm going to need the pilots to meet me downstairs for one last thing. I promise, you'll thank me for it later.
Enjoy your night, meet your other ITs, unpack and get some sleep. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me here.
Being that today is July 4th, we'll be having a small fireworks display out on the tarmac tonight. If you'd like, come out and meet your fellow ITs and instructors.
