New Years Resolutions

I have set a New Years resolution... three in fact. I have to do the dishes every night after dinner. In the past, I would let them build up and then be annoyed that I had so many dishes. They would hit that threshold where you didn't want to do them because there were too many, and it would compound. Well, I am doing them every night.

Also, I am only allowed three meals out a week. To make sure we do this, Michelle and I are making weekly menus. This means that Michelle and I will actually eat the food we buy, save money, eat more healthy, and be excited about what we are having for dinner throughout the week. Tonight is leftovers, but it is left over pulled pork, sausage and vegetables. I am actually looking forward to it.

The third resolution is to do some kind of cardiovascular exercise for 30 minutes everyday. I know I will screw this up, but I have to set a goal. I need to get into the gym more than two times a week. I have decided to stop standing on the scale and just watch what I eat, and make a point to get some exercise. I find that while I like weight lifting, I also dread it. I find that I tend to skip the gym if I can't do both cardio and weight lifting. I am going to focus on the cardio because it is quick and I can convince myself to do it.

So, I am going to make a point to do some kind of cardio, and do weight lifting if I feel up to it. Just getting in gym and watching portion sizes will make a difference. I have realized it is more about how I feel and look and not about the numbers.

I will be glad when the weather is warmer, because I really miss riding my bike to work.
