Since I know most of my LJ friends worked on Leading Edge at some point, I'm reposting a message I got from another former staff member. Looks like the administration is again considering cutting it. I swear this battle has to be fought every 3-5 years, and I bet the literary magazine doesn't have to deal with it.
Anyway, if you're interested in the letter (which is mostly asking for letters of support), you can read it behind the cut.
As a former Leading Edge volunteer, I thought you'd like to know that LE's funding is getting cut. I'm working with the current staff to reverse this -- LE was a huge part of my experience and education at BYU, and I can't imagine going through school without it. I certainly wouldn't have my current job without it. We're collecting letters at editor@leadingedgemagazine.com about LE's impact on our education.
The editor let me know that the best way to ensure LE's survival is to increase the subscription rate. The new website allows for online ordering at www.leadingedgemagazine.com/IssuePages/Subscribe.html, and for donations. I'm planning on getting subscriptions for Christmas presents.
The other way to help is to spread the word: link to the LE website on Facebook, tweet about it, and e-mail family, friends, and other former staff.
Thanks for volunteering in the past -- hopefully future students will have the same opportunities we did.
Sincerely,
Megan Hutchins

Word of warning: the online payment is a little wonky in that you have to pay for each item (subscription, issue, whatever) separately from any others. Not an issue if you're only ordering one, but I was trying to catch up on back issues and it was irksome by the end. I recommended Paypal or Google Checkout to them; we'll see if it happens.
