Stormy Weather

There was just the most intense lighting and thunder. I love the rain when I don't have to be driving in it and I can enjoy it looking out the window or putting on the proper gear and go walking in it.

I have a most memorable rain experience. It was 1999 and I was in Kauai, Hawaii, it may have been 4 years exactly to today's date. It was 80 degrees outside and it had been raining all day and then into the night. It was about midnight and I was compelled to walk in the rain.

At the time I was staying on the property of the Limahuli Gardens,

which was a rare thing, since no camping is allowed, but a friend was minding the gardens as lead gardner and horticulturist, and invited my girlfriend and I to stay in his one room cabin with a loft, which he lived in at the time.

I walked down the lane right to the entrance to the Kalalau Trail. At that point you are right on the ocean and it is incredible, the moon must have been full around this time because the sky was bright so you could see. I remember looking at the ocean, tremendous warm rain was falling and I could not have been happier. Don't know why that just came out, but what a beautiful memory. That was one of my most happiest times.

And then there is the destruction of the Tsunami. My prayers go out to all involved. I just have a difficult time understanding how many people must be feeling in this moment. They say more than 60000 deaths. Staggering. Blessings.
