[In a city much more quaint than France in the year 5053, we find the Count of Monte Cristo. Of course, there is no Monte Cristo here to speak of. As anyone else would be, suddenly appearing in a foreign land with foreign people, the Count has some confusion about him. But being a man of little emotion, it is kept to himself.]
How fortuitous. I have yet to even settle down in Paris and now I find myself taking another voyage. Certainly I have time for a little discrepancy.
[Smiles slowly, the action almost sincere had it not been for the cloud of irritation in his mind. He had business that needed finishing up in Paris.]
No matter, I shall simply familiarize myself with society in this quaint location for the time. But I wonder, is there any hierarchy here to speak of? I suppose this doesn't matter much, when there is no establishment of aristocracy, the common people shall reign as kings... Perhaps I should find a mediator, one who knows this humble city and it's inhabitants moreso than I. That would assumedly be the best method of assimilation.
