Quatre [ Masquerade ]

May 20, 2008 20:06

[It is now the evening of the Masquerade, and the hour has struck. The whole of Château de Monte Cristo is alight and stands out like fire in the evening darkness. The doors are guarded by two stewards who hold lists and commands from the Count himself. Inside, servers buzz throughout the mingling crowd holding silver trays of delightful and rather ( Read more... )

[sjkghs yes iFail at hiatusing, tags will be slow D: As he enters, Raphael is viewing the decorations with distaste, a red mask covering his face- nothing paricularily fancy, but it serves the purpose.]

It's beginning to get crowded.

Ahh, Monsier Sorel, I'm honored you could attend.

If you find the ballroom too populated, you are by all means free to venture through the rest of the rooms. Though I must ask perhaps for your own safety that you not touch anything.

It distracts from the rest of the poor company.

Is there any room you would recommend? [Slight sarcasm there, but he's still being mostly serious]

If you see the company unfit, I could only agree that you rid yourself of it.

Several. The library is extensive, the music room holds every instrument you could wish for, the fencing room for sparring, the greenhouse... it all depends on your current taste, Monsieur.

[The excitement was fluttering in her chest like butterflies and it was making her giddy, but she kept it neatly bottled up. Selphie's hair fell past her shoulders, with a slight curl at the end in homage to her normal hairstyle. With her lion-like mask and it's mane of feathers, her usual hairstyle would've been a bit much. Her dress was a dusty orange, with a cream panel down the front, the pattern mimicking the moomba's fur, and feather trim across the neckline both enhanced and concealed her curves. Her opera-length gloves were also trimmed with feathers around the bicep, and came to points on the back of her hands, leaving her palms bare and exposing her 'claws.' The deep purple-black of her nails shimmered in the light, and brought attention to the goldstone ring she wore.

As she saw the Count at the door, she smiled brightly]

I wanted to thank you for the invitation sir, I've been looking forward to this evening since it arrived.

Of course, sir. [She managed a rather elegant curtsy (SeeD usually saluted, but it would look out of place with her not in uniform), smiling as she straightened]

I'll be looking forward to speaking with you on your world's airships, since you speak so highly of them. Have a good evening, sir.

[A crane? Really, Ron? Well, regardless of the animal of his roommates choosing, Godot appeared at the Château looking very slick. His mane of white hair was a little tamer, and visor dressed up to look the part of a mask. His normal outfit was replaced with a white doublebreasted suit, black vest and red tie. Because this was Ron designing it, there were feathers at the hem and elaborate touches of black along the suit to indicate the specific marks.
He spoke briefly to the Count, before catching sight of Selphie and approaching her from behind.]

Someone's looking gorgeous tonight.

[The only reason why Rachel was late, was mostly because of the boy she dragged along with her. Her costume of choice was a black bear, the mask elegant and detailed, and clinging to her slender form is a black dress with matching accessories and gloves that passed her elbows. Certainly, she knew how to dress, being a self proclaimed fashion expert.]

Come on! There's not even a lot of people here yet! [Through gritted teeth as she tugged along.]

[This was definitely not Tobias' element. He hated being on the ground, being blind, being deaf. He missed the sky already. Of course, he had no idea what was fashionable, so he let Rachel pick for him. Which may or may not have been a good idea, but at least he was in something fancy. He wore a plain black tuxedo, with a shaped mask on his face. Russet feathers peeked out the side. Red-tailed hawk, of course.]

I came with you, didn't I?

[Rachel understood how uncomfortable it must have been, being as she's been in eagle morph and the senses are very different. Of course, it wasn't permanent, and Tobias could live with it for about an hour or so. Besides, it wasn't every day they got to go out on dates do normal things, and the city was becoming really boring.]

It doesn't count until we step inside.

[He sighed.]

Fine, fine. Let's go inside. [He didn't look thrilled at the idea, being in an enclosed space, but it was for Rachel. He'd do it. For her.

...But only for her.]

['Jack Simon' makes his way to the door to shake the Count's hand and introduce himself in person. He's managed to dress a bit more formally than his usual suits. He's dressed in dark blue with a deep yellow tie and a matching mask - November is a bird, a blue and macaw. No sunglasses this time.]

Our host, I presume?

Indeed. I am glad you could attend. Monsieur Simon, I presume?

[An interesting choice for someone like Jade. He's adorned in various shades of browns, tones varying from coffee to cream, heavily decorated with lace at the cuffs of the sleeves, down the center of his long tailed coat, and done up with the cravat as well. Something of an old Victorian dress style, costume complete with a pale half-mask that allows the exposure of his mouth, the eyes framed with dark black to the edges of the mask, decorated with various shades of brown feathers. And along either side, two long, winding horns, the entire accessory held up by a stick--plucked carefully between an index and forefinger. Colonel gazelle's arrived, lolol.]

My, it looks as though I might actually have arrived late, judging by the crowd.

[The Count moves silently to stand beside Jade. Hoho ho.]

Not at all! These are but the early birds. I must say that I am quite glad you could make it, Monsieur Curtiss. I was looking forward to conversing with you more.
