Oh. My. God. How is it I never knew Beethoven composed a piece entitled "Wellington's Victory". It's like two of my favourite men coming together! :D
UPD: And I'm off to a concert to listen to the Scottish Symphony Orchestra perform Beethoven's first symphony and Mahler. :D And then I'll be going to a club where they are having a Russian night

I think it has cannons in it, and that along with having the theme of defeating Napoleon makes it often paired with 1812, in recordings at least. I've never heard it performed live (probably because it's so silly.)
