I've been addicted to sad sad sad songs.
i've always loved the vivid imagery, atmospheric, quivering vocals laced with sadness. it's unexplainable. but when you sit in the train late at night, or in the day with scenes of hills and houses rolling past, it is so sadly perfect that it brings a tear. :(
Drag your shadow down the street
Was it you I was to meet?
With your saints there on a chain
Waiting on another rain
And I'm falling down
Where the waves will surround
To the roll and the pound
Of the wild, wild sea
Talking sweet to me
- A.A. Bondy; A Slow Parade
Today you were far away
and I didn't ask you why
What could I say
I was far away
You just walked away
and I just watched you
What could I say
How close am I to losing you
Tonight you just close your eyes
and I just watch you
slip away
- The National; About Today
Today, I watched a musical performed by Wildrice at the NLB drama centre, called "beauty and the beast". I was slightly affected when the girl said that she saw into the eyes of the handsome prince and it was a pair of sad eyes. CUZ!! It reminded me of one of the episodes of Doctor Who I watched. 18th century lady meets her prince of doomed time travel. I really liked "girl in the fireplace" of Who. It's the most romantic time travel fairytale story that ended in quiet and controlled tears, baring internal struggles of the doctor's asexuality, yet dependance on human relationships.
don't get me started on "waters of mars". it has the most heart wrenching scene of the doctor explaining to the doomed crew that their imminent deaths were a fixed point of time in history and he couldn't do anything to save them cuz future events of "human exploration into space" would not have spurred if that tragedy hadn't occured. fugging sad cried my eyes out.
Yep, I've decided. I have an unhealthy obsession with angst.
1.5 more days to my new phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't think of anything much else seriously.
