You can put them in your download folder directly. Some people prefer to make a seperate folder for default replacements to keep track of them. I have default replacements folders for objects, clothes, skin, eyes, and "hiders"

no special steps required.

I never ever ever download CC separates, but I'm definitely taking a bunch of your defaults, since they're just making clothes already in game useable. :D
