Yo, be an illustrator. If you're really thinking about it, come to NYC some time this summer when I go down to the Society of Illustrators for Tuesday Night Figure Drawing and Jazz and you'll se just how epic it really is to be an illustrator and then we can go get drunk in Brooklyn and then drunkenly take the F train to my friend's apartment and wake up with tattoos of dolphins eating corn dogs on our faces go to museums and see the Society's illustration museum downstairs. You should also see some of my stuff in non-internet form so you can get an idea of what you'd be doing. A lot of illustrators DO work on graphic novels for shits and giggles but it shouldn't be the ONLY thing people talk about when you ask about illustration on a tour. If you want, I can check out your portfolio thus far too and let you know what you might need to have more of or whatever.

And writing all that crap was no problem, I'll take any chance I can get to deride graphic designers & photographers/convince people who're good at art to become illustrators, since it's the best job you can ever have ever in the art world.

You havn't figure drawn 'till you've done it at the Society. There's live jazz music, awesome models, free unlimited food with cover charge (15 bucks...last time it was make-your-own-tacos), and open bar.

Not to mention the bathrooms have original James Montgomery Flagg drawings just HANGIN' OUT like, "s'up we're prolly worth about $100,000 and we're in a bathroom." As well as the giant J.C. Lyendecker painting in the cafe right next to the Coles Phillips fadeaway girl. Christ. It's so epic there.

I'll IM you or something next time I'm thinking about going (possibly NEXT tuesday...)
