Well, it's about that time for my (apparently) yearly "reflective" post. I'm not sure what this says about me, but I'm always itching to do this kind of thing right before the start of each new academic year. I know I'm a creature of habit, but for some reason, I can't avert the urge to do it; it happens completely organically. I think in my subconscious I want to be able to access the person I was at this age (and all previously noted pivotal times in my life) in the future. I suppose I am a very nostalgic(?) person.
For this summer, these things have become prominent in my mind:
Austin and Kay visiting before finals week and the police coming to Chandler park.
Michelle teaching me to sew, making coffee kahlua drinks, and a fouth of July celebration. Becoming good friends. Encouraging each other in creating.
Camping with will fourth of July weekend. Although we accidentally hiked five miles in the wrong direction, it was an amazing and memorable experience.
Working at Bryant way was a rewarding and refreshing experience. I loved seeing the kids there growing so fast and learning new things. Although I do disapprove of Amanda's methods occasionally.
Camping with Austin, Kay Kay, Drew, and Will (x2).
Visiting with Morgan at the end of the summer.
Moving in with Mike and Matt.
and generally just getting to have time to paint and be creative, and most of all, relax.
Taking Adrianna to the hospital (mostly prefaced by a hilarious and widely enjoyable night).
Riding bikes with Matt and Mike.
Hanging with Drew and Will and watching Sebastian grow and become so smart and funny.
Visiting Ryan.
Master Musicians Festival in Somerset with Travis, Lydia, Ryan, Austin, Kay, Steve, Sara, Jasmine, Will & Ryan. I couldn't ask for a better reunion.
Lost River cave with Ryan, Matt Bastin, Jonathan and Will.
Party at Chandler park with Zach, Mike, Will, Matt, Adrianna and Tiff. Playing Kings. Cinco de Mayo with Fajitas and Cory look alike.
Stumbling. and Stumbling Upon.
Sleeping to my heart's content (which was suprisingly minimal).
mewithoutYou and david bazan and (another time, Toubab Krewe) at Exit In.
Hanging with Adrianna daily and trying my damndest to encourage her and cheer her up.
Cookout at Travis and Lydia's; seeing Conley, Kate and Patrick.
What i'm anticipating, directly:
Start to school.
Learning more about what I love: art and enlisted techniques. Learning more in general. Becoming a better person.
My twentieth. Bonfires and friends and beer and wine (and weed, after all the young folks leave). :)
The best part about writing these is: every year, I find myself in an equally desirable place in my life; I am content, and that is really all any person can ask for.
