I know a few of you here and have pretty much heard something about the rest of you in one way or another and just wanted to say thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. That was one thing the local TV news people I've talked to tell me is that they've received dozens if not hundreds of calls and emails saying they know her and asking how she is. Leigh is going to feel so wonderful when she is able to read your posts and/or hear about how many people care and love her so much. And it's been so enduring and supportive right now to me and the rest of the family as well.
You know by now she's in pretty serious condition. And yes, the latest I heard this morning from the hospital staff was that she'll be in a bit of a deeper medically induced coma now in order to rest her brain some more and ease the swelling. Before all I could do is stand by her bed and maybe talk to her or touch her arm but now I am not doing that because it might cause too much stimulation to her brain that they want in total rest.
The hardest thing to do is wait, but it can also be the most encouraging and hopeful thing to do too, because when they say let's see what happens tomorrow or in a few hours or two or three days or whenever from now, then I'm thankful there is a future time to focus on. The questions can't be answered yet about prognosis or recovery, but just get through these heavy-duty beginning hours after the trauma she's sustained to her head.
It's amazing, given the gravity of the impact, that she didn't also break every bone in her body, but so far all they've found is a broken clavicle in addition to her head trauma. And she doesn't appear to even have many scrapes or bruises, etc., as far as I can tell. Her head has been shaved for the surgeries that give her that sort of "Sinead" look a far cry from the 1989 picture at the top of this post, but making her the prettiest one in the room now imo.
Someone mentioned the "Roxy interview," and yeah, I thought it was the funniest news video by far, which shows her "little cat Roxy" - boy, Rox took advantage of his 10 seconds or so of fame in that one!
Anyway, everyone hang in there - I think we're in for the long haul - and if there's anything I can do, like answer any questions you have - or try and get an answer for you from somewhere, please let me know. Thanks again for your support and love.
