so the "this is what happened at camp last summer and this is how i feel about it right now" entry is coming later today, when i am at the office (hopefully) enjoying ac and speedy wifi. fingers crossed.
a few updates from the weekend:
wednesday i gave my last lit presentation and turned in my final paper. kidneys signify sexual tension. wtf. thank you google for getting me through that class.
wednesday night i went out for hannah's birthday party. she and lisa rented a train to drive us around the city. it was the most rediculious thing ever. i had my first shot of tequila (NAST!) and had the unforgettable experience of riding around the city on a train painted with mickey mouse and barney while surrounded but a lot of really drunk people. what a way to celebrate your 21st.
thursday morning super early we all had to catch the boat to uruguay to go celebrate thanksgiving at mario's house. hannah overslept and missed the boat. mario's house is beautiful just like his place in the city and i fell in love with it. the food all looked exactly the same but deceptively tasted all quite different - i didn't expect it to be the same but i did find myself missing the traditional thanksgiving. i called home in the evening (quite a feat since uruguay is 4 hours ahead of the midwest) to get passed around to all the family. um yes.
sarah and i spent the weekend in uruguay. colonia (which as i hear is quite romantic) has the feel of a sleepy beach town and everywhere you go things look so cute. i think sarah got really sick of me saying that. montevideo is faster paced and bigger. we wern't there for long but we managed to hit up a lot of the touristy things without even trying.
i sprained my arch getting off the bus back from montevideo. i have a long history of foot problems dating back to running injuries in high school that are still not resolved and where nobody really seems to know what the problem is. i couldn't bring my walking boot to argentina because it took up too much space but its what i need right now. every time i do this i wonder if this is the time i will need reconstructive foot surgury. the ankle brace i do have puts mad pressure on my achilies - bad news. ok i'll shut up about my feet now.
our boat home was delayed so we didn't get in till 11 (we were exhausted from doing nothing all weekend) and then we had to find a taxi - a fun task when 2 full boats are unloading at the same time (the airline is on strike so more people were traveling by boat)
its getting old to come back from going away and see all my stuff moved around. it is too late to complain about it but i'm getting soo excited for my own room next semester. mine. all mine. (bubbles, my bubbles!!) since i moved out of my parents house i haven't had my own space - roommates at school during the year and campers during the summer.

that's all the news for now. it is hot and that makes me cranky. i think that's going to be the theme of the next month. in montevideo i got this fun little thing of a fork skiing - i decided it was a girl cause it has the wavy tines for hair and cause it's cooler to have a skiing girl. my host mom instantly decided it was a guy. why does it have to matter anyways?

oh ps. in urguay the american dollar is about 1:22 with the peso. que lio! figuring out conversions sucked.
