Happy Hanukkah

Happy Hanukkah. Merry Christmas. Joyous holiday to all.

I've been home for a week. Glorious, glorious west coast. It's freezing here, probably the coldest that I remember it being in a long time. 20s-30s at night, high 30s to low 50s during the day. That's been a little strange. I always relate coming home to warm weather, but the bay area is no socal. I sometimes forget that we actually get winter-ish weather up here, with chilly rain, frozen grass and car windshields, and snow on the tippy top of Mount Diablo in the not-so-far distance. Apparently there was enough snow to snowboard up there the other day. I don't think I'd be too keen to try that, given that Diablo is not a ski resort.

Moving on...

As always, it's been great to be back. I haven't been home since June. 6 months. The longest I've been away. I thought that coming back would bring me this huge surge of emotion and sense of belonging, but strangely it hasn't. I mean, I'm very happy to be here, and it certainly feels more homey to me than Brooklyn does, but still. I didn't cry when I saw my family at the airport, which I usually do. Maybe because I was pretty happy this last semester at NYU, I wasn't looking at coming home as an escape from everything in New York.

Been keeping pretty busy as per usual. Sleeping a lot. Catching up with my loves out here. Spending lots of time with the family.

Holidays have been great so far. I really dig the minimalist Hanukkah we've been having this year, because every year I feel like a spoiled brat with my gifts.

Anyways, I'm off to bed. Happy holidays, friends =)
