get down Saturday night

Hello lovelies.

How is it still 80 degrees in New York? It's October! Usually fall is in full swing by now. I'm not complaining in the slightest, except for the humidity today.
I have my first midterm of the semester tomorrow. When did midterm season begin? Strange how fast everything seems to be moving. Academic advising and Spring Registration is also soon. Weird.
I'm having a very chill semester, with little drama and little worries from my end. I'm concentrating on school and I think I'm doing well so far. We'll see how much that changes when my midterms are over haha.

Anyways, lets talk about fun stuff!
Liz, Tassia and I started a new weekly ritual of going to the rockclimbing wall at NYU's Coles gym every Thursday. Our friend works there and he had been asking Tass to stop by, so we figured we'd all go and give it a shot. It's so much fun! We go on the treadwalls, which are like giant vertical treadmills with climbing holds, and then practice traversing across the wall. Traversing is typically done without ropes (so we don't go up very high) and you move sideways along the wall instead of upwards. It's HARD! Well, I think so at least. Liz and Tass seem to have the hang of it a little better than I do haha. The best part is that not many people know about the climbing center so usually its just us and maybe one or two other people. Basically we can be as silly and rambunctious as we want. It "rocks."

Saturday was LIZ'S 20TH BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA!! The girls and I spent the whole day decorating and making cards and an amazing Will Ferrell cake before getting ready for the evening's redonkulous plan: partying in a stretch Hummer for 5 hours. Yes. Stretch Hummer. Driving around the city. All night. Lots o' booze. It was SO MUCH FUN! We all got dressed up - I was super stoked for an excuse to wear my black mini-dress and huge peep-toe stilletos one last time before fall starts - and the limo picked us up at about 11ish. There were I think 14 of us in a 20 passenger Hummer, which was awesome because we had lots of space. A nice combo of NYU friends and Liz's BK friends. We mostly stayed in the Times Square area, and decided to roll down the windows and tell everyone that we had P.Diddy in there. At one point one of the guys bought "I heart NY" tees for all of the girls... he just kind of ran out, grabbed some, and then threw them at us haha. Someone bought Liz one of those cool Chinese painted name signs with Mickey and Minnie on it. Tassia passed her camera around and we ended up taking about 300 pics, some of which are on facebook if you would like to see them lol. I refused to drink out of anything other than champagne flutes, because I wanted to be a classy broad. We had the music blasting all night and our driver was awesome. Just a really great b-day celebration.
So the next morning the four of us of course begin swapping stories of the previous evening and laughing about everything silly that we did. Then Liz and Karen go, "Hey Leah, I can't believe you made out with Joe!"
Um... excuse me?
I had a little bit too much to drink in the Hummer, as is per usual with me when I get super excited, and as I was saying bye to everyone I guess I made out with Liz's friend Joe. We had been sitting next to each other for most of the ride and were being pretty goofy together, but we definitely didn't have any "sparks" or anything. I guess we just decided to do that instead of the traditional NY kiss on the cheek goodbye.
The problem is, I don't remember doing that at all. I have absolutely no recollection of that happening.
Yes, the girls and I had a good laugh that morning about my spur of the moment drunken make out session, but the reality is that its not funny. It really isn't funny. What if things had progressed past a little friendly kissing? I don't want to think about it.
I'm kind of disgusted with myself, actually.
OK, making out isn't that big of a deal. It didn't mean anything, we probably did it as a joke. But I don't want to be known as the crazy Californian who gets wasted and makes out with everyone. Thats not who I am. Ugh.
Why am I telling you all this?
Please just be careful while under the influence. That's all.

Oy vey.

Time to finish reading All the President's Men! It's so good. Its been on my list of things to read for like 5 years and now its required reading for my journalism class. I love it so far.

much love <3
