phoned me in Minnesota, said you had a vital question

Today at work was...interesting. I had a closing shift, 6.30-12, and one of my co-workers, D, was also there. We first started talking when I went to the back to get a folding cart (which is near where he was assigned) and made some small talk about Christmas shopping and school. I mean, not like this was the first time we've spoken, he's been there a while, and we've goofed around a lot. Normal co-worker stuff...

He mentioned The Hobbit movie, which we've talked about before, said he was thinking about seeing it on Friday and then said "now I just have to find someone to go with." I didn't really think about it that much then, but then it's making me wonder now.

When he went on his half hour break he hung out by me and we talked some more as I continued working, and when I went on mine, I ended up hanging out by him...I had a short conversation with another co-worker first (there was something she wanted to tell me earlier but couldn't because the manager was around...it was gossip lol) and then just sort of drifted over to where he was.

Anyway, when I was on my break we talked a little about my car (he's into cars and stuff) and he said he's seen people put airbags in their tires so they could make the car go up and down. He offered to do it to my car and I thought he was kidding so I just laughed. Then he said he'd pay for all the parts and stuff and do it for free...It sounds weird, I know, but he was very persistent about it.

I just kind of brushed it off, casually like "I don't think so," with a laugh. And then he was like "come one, I'll pay for your Hobbit ticket too," and I didn't think much of that either.

So I clocked back in and went back to my area and started working and whenever one of us would pass by the other he'd bring up the car thing. Then he mentioned the Hobbit again and said "how about I throw in dinner?" and I didn't know what to do, so I made a joke by saying "throw in a full semester's tuition and we've got a deal." So we both laughed because it was mildly funny but my god I was so incredibly clueless and awkward...

I don't know if I'm reading too much into this...I feel like I must be. I mean he wasn't trying to ask me out, he couldn't have...But he was very persistent and I don't know...? We're just friends. It would be a friends thing, if it was anything at all. I feel funny thinking about it so much, let alone writing all this about it, but that's why I like the internet. Total anonymity, no way could I speak so freely like this in real life.

But, anyway, I'm a little confused because no one's ever "shown interest" in me before...and I feel like I must be overthinking this...I mean even if that were that case, wouldn't it be weird because we work together? And because he went out with another co-worker? I think that was a while ago though. And even then, I'm not even sure I want that...well, maybe not that I don't want that, more like I'm not sure I'm ready.

I'm working 12-9 on Saturday, and he mentioned that he was working 5-9 so I'm thinking that...maybe...if the time is right and I get a chance and don't chicken out, I might see if he wants to go down for frozen yogurt after work since we finish at the same time...I probably won't work up the nerve but...I don't know, it was a thought.
