Rowing

Today marked my second day of rowing conditioning. I love that sport so much UGH. I kind of forgot how awesome and magical it was to me. I guess it's an okay substitute for hockey, as far as my sports life goes. On Monday we did some seriously intense running exercises which included sprinting a 3/4 mile and doing sprints up a hill over and OVER AND OVERRR. I wanted to just hold my butt and writhe in pain after those. Then we partnered up and did as many push ups and setups as we could in one minute. My partner was, ironically enough, the sister of Blair's rowing coach. We hit it off pretty well and hopefully we'll go erging tomorrow to prepare for our erg sprint test on Saturday. 2500 METERS IN UNDER 8 MINUTES. GOSHHH. Everybody on the team says that erg tests will put you through the most unreal mental and physical stress of your whole life. People apparently barf while they're still erging. Not even enough time to get to a bathroom. It's THAT bad. I'm not at all excited about it. I'm really WORRIED actually!

Today was our first day on the water and it was AWESOME. I've been in a crew before and I made it on the water before I had to leave for retarded reasons, but I forgot how awesome it feels when you're all rowing at once. It's like riding some huge, galloping beast the way the boat smoothly lurches forward with each stroke. It's just beyond words. It makes the days of ass-whooping drills so worth it! And we're going back out tomorrow!

I'm so exhausted from all these workouts. I think I may sleep through vert. lecture tomorrow and just swap notes with Emily, since she skipped yesterday. Ugh. And I'm freaking tired of EATING! When you do rowing, you're supposed to eat at least 2500 Calories a day to make up for the intense amounts that you burn off. I normally just eat about 800, so being hungry all the time and constantly stuffing my face is incredibly weird to me. Lauren made a kind of blueberry cobbler today though, so that helped tide me over after conditioning today. I never thought the day would come that I would complain about having to eat so much! I love eating, but not when I HAVE to do it.

I'm going to bed now. My quads are going to be killing me tomorrow from all the power squats we had to do today. I'm not looking forward to that.
