DEADTHINGSSSS

Jan 08, 2008 21:02

So yesterday was my first day back at school. I totally was NOT pumped about this at all. This semester I'm taking statistics, calculus and a WHOPPING 5 hour taxonomy-intensive course called vertebrate natural history. All have labs too, so that's some serious ass ( Read more... )

Ooooh take pictures I would LOVE to see them, it sounds so awesome.

I'm so glad I'm going into zoology. I want to be surrounded by amazing stuff like this for the rest of my life.

Man that bums me out so much I wasn't aware you had to take calculus, vectors and advanced functions to take zoology. I wanted to sign up for them tonight but I just don't have the pre-requisites or the grades, which dissapoints me I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get into zoology. The stuff seems very complicated though if you keep in mind I'm not a math person at ALL which includes the mathy parts of science. I want to live through your livejournal when you posts these kinds of entries.

You need the most bizarre courses sometimes to graduate with certain majors :c I was as surprised as you are when I heard I had to take it, and it's awful. I'm SO terrible at math, I can't even put it into words, so crap like calculus really needs to be spoon fed to me for me to get it. Ugh college, I don't understand why you make me do things like this sometimes.

Keep in mind though that not all colleges require it for the major! Yours may not! You should look into it if you're serious about majoring in zoology!

Yeah me too calculus is the worst I actually failed math in grade ten although in grade 11 I took it again, along with grade 11 math, but I took the stupider version with a slower teaching method and that kind of stuff and got a 92, so I know that I'm much slower in it and need to take my time to understand it. But YEAH, I totally understand you when you say it needs to be spoon fed.

Yeah that's a good idea, so far I was only looking at all the top universities and stuff in Toronto, I should really look around for something that applies to me. Thanks.

OH YEAH, I almost forgot, have you ever seen the show Planet Earth? I have the whole dvd set and a lot of the stuff reminds me of you and your art. Especially the part in rain forests where it speeds up all these different types of mushrooms growing.

That's so ironic, because I just popped in the deep ocean episode before I went off to classes yesterday! Planet Earth is my lifeblood omg. It's SO good! I totally would LOVE to film documentaries like that one day, but that's such an unrealistic dream :c plus I'm ass with a camera. I know that part you're talking about with the little shroomlets! That was seriously the most amazing thing ever. I'm still floored every time I see it!

Good luck with your college hunt! I hope you find a school that has just want to want, because it completely sucks when you're studying something that isn't just what you want to do in life :c I started out as an art major and switched after my first year because I was NOT content just drawing nature and animals, and it's pretty much the best feeling ever now that I'm in courses that are going to set me in the career I want to have for the rest of my life. Moral of the story: don't settle for less.
