Tomorrow will end my first complete week at my new job. I only worked 2 days my first week (exactly as I arranged) and was sick for 2 of the 5 days last week.

Overall, I am liking it. Working in a plastic surgeon's office is interesting. Since I grew up in this city, and also because I worked as the receptionist at a private school 5 minutes from the doctor's office, I have recognized a number of names amongst the files. So far only one person I've known has actually come into the office since I've been there. She was one of the parents at the school I worked at and I didn't know her well. She probably recognized me, but had no idea from where... I'm thinking whenever someone comes in that I know, I'll just act as if I don't unless they say something. It would kinda suck to go to a plastic surgeon's office for a cosmetic procedure and have someone you know working in the office. Then again, maybe not. Plastic surgery is so much more commonplace than it once was. I actually had a former coworker tell me she didn't go to her 40th high school reunion because she'd be in the minority of those who hadn't had work done. I have to wonder if that was really true or just her perception.

The doctor I'm working for used to specialize in hand surgery, but is really wanting to do all types of cosmetic-type procedures now. To learn about some of the cosmetic procedures, the office manager sent me home with various brochures. I mean, I obviously knew what breast augmentations and face lifts are, but I didn't know a lot of the technical names. I wouldn't have had a clue what a lot of them are: Mastopexy (breast lift), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), gynecomastia (male breast reduction), rhytidectomy (face lift)...

Now we just have to get James employed again! And I'm praying hard for something he'll enjoy to come along - and FAST!
