Done in two takes, thank you very much!
I did the episode recording today and I think it went pretty well.
I was never really given good notes as to the desired general tone. The guy who did the recording gave me a few the first time (which was the second try-out, I guess you'd say), but the powers-that-be had a very different idea.
So I'd read it through with a very different tone. I did practice a number of different variations, but the one they wanted was so different. And they so could have told me before sticking the mic in my face...
But that's ok. Professionals (which I can pretend to be) can deal with that. I managed to need only two takes and no extra corrections, which is saying something considering it was a 5-page script. I think he was kinda impressed.
I wasn't so happy with the first take, though, so I'm nervous for the sections he ends up using from that one. It's a long story, but I had no water and was sounding pretty hoarse by the end... Fortunately I was able to extract myself and get water before we started the second one.
Otherwise, my day was just kind of a day.
Tonight we're going out to celebrate a friend's birthday, so it was really fun looking forward to both the voice-over stuff AND a fun dinner outing.
Not bad for a Monday.
