For example, my instructor seems to be pretty Microsoft-indoctrinated. She obviously doesn't buy into everything that Microsoft says -- she's a skillful IT person who knows when "Microsoft best practices" really aren't the best. But even though she's heard of Linux, she doesn't seem to know much about it, particularly some of the Linux tools for working with Windows machines that would actually make her job easier than with the tools Microsoft provides.
And I understand what you mean about corporate higher-ups dictating what you do. Feel free to kvetch away. ;P

As for my current corporate frustrations. GARG. They redisigned the 'front desk area' so now the desk is right in front of the door-and we need to move rather large carts through that door. Also, the door was formerly left open, now we have to use a key code to open it, making a one person job a two person job. There are other problems too, and ALL of this anoying crap could have been avoided with just a tiny bit of consideration to what the requirements of the people using the area would be. SIGH.
