(no subject)
it's been a long while since i've made any sort of noise on here, so this will have to suffice. i am alive... i'm back to working for the city, and i'll be done with it by friday evening. thank god. i've gotten more than my share of kids this summer, and i definitely won't be rushing into having any of my own for a good many years. at least i get paid for my birth control, right? and i'm working at the gas station tonight and this weekend and probably the weekend after that and whenever else.
suffice it to say i'm ready to get back to school. if only i could enjoy everything i like about college without the classes and the accompanying stress. i've been thinking things over lately, thinking about the uncertainty that i'm doing the right thing. i'm think more about the prospect of teaching, but i don't know. maybe i'll focus on grad school and other things after graduation and find a college to hire me. i could probably do the costume shop manager thing or whatever else might come my way.... hard to say.
i'm think more about education after working at governor's camp again. despite a few little struggles, this was a great year. i got to know and work with a bunch of awesome middle- and high-school students from around south dakota. if i get into teaching in some k-12 system, i think i'd have to opt for a high school position working with high-ability kids like the ones from camp. they've got so much going for them; it's incredibly exciting to think about what they can and will do as they go through high school, college, and life. so it was a great couple of weeks to get to be around these amazing, ambitious kids. and i might get to go to greece with some of them. i can't say just yet, but i'm crossing my fingers.
so that's it for now. i'm doing pretty well overall, despite a bit of camp withdrawal.
