Yesterday, my office closed due to what I hope is our last blizzard of the season. Apparently, this is what it looks like when the groundhog sees no shadow. I don't want to know what would qualify as six more weeks of winter if this isn't it.
In any case, it was nice to sleep in, lounge around the house, do some spinning. I helped my boy shovel out before he left for work (restaurants don't close, ever, which sucks), and then did a little grocery shopping. The Blockbuster near us is closing, so I got a copy of Zoolander for me and Machete for my boy for less than $10 total - no complaints there.
I finished spinning the second braid of Polwarth wool I bought from Cosmic Fibers right before I got my wheel. This is "Goblin's Groin" but it reminds me of river stones. I'm thinking gloves, depending on how much yardage I have after I ply and wash it.
This morning I got up early to go knit with my ladies at the local coffee shop. I had to take my car in for service, so while I was waiting, Ginger and Julia and I went down to our LYS to paw around and generally enable each other's fiber habits. While I have been successful so far in sticking to my 2011 knit-the-stash yarn diet, I can't get the responsible part of my brain to recognize that fiber should count (not really, but I keep telling myself it should so I won't buy more). I left with a fair haul - four 4oz. bundles of fiber to spin.
(Clockwise, starting top left: 4.3 oz. Hand-dyed Merino wool "Deep Forest", 3.9 oz. Hand-dyed Merino wool "Autumn Sunset", 4.0 oz. undyed BFL, 4.0 oz. undyed BFL)
Drool away.
Now I'm snuggled up on the couch with a bowl of
Gyokuro Green Tea , gifted from
frost_faerie. I'm going to finish my story for this month's writing group assignment and then work on my boy's socks some more. Happy day. :)
