thinking why do i like Jeremy Brett so much, what was the attraction in the first place? Well in Sherlock for example Silver Blase, the way he handles the horse that he likes animals, the way he interacts with children, you can see Jeremy as Jeremy. Then the acting,it is so natural, so vital even when he was so ill, as in the dying detective, what ( Read more... )

He was terribly ill while filming the Dying Detective, you are correct. I must say that I agree with you that part of it wasn't acting. For much of the time he was also on oxygen and in a wheelchair during the filming of the Memoirs. He collapsed on the set several times, and was gravely ill during the filming of 'The Three Gables'. It was Linda who was finally able to coax him into going to the hospital where they told him he had pneumonia. Also, the lithium he was taking for his Bi-Polar disorder caused terrible water retention (not to mention heart damage), which only worsened the situation. We all know that smoking didn't help, BUT, it was his already damaged heart and his medications that really led to his deteriorating health. He was basically poisoned from incorrect dosages being prescribed to him by his Doctor(s).

I also echo your sentiments 'That makes me respect and love him more.'

Apparently some people have small little minds and judge others on their 'supposed' private lives. A private life which should remain private as Jeremy wished. You are correct, no mention of Mary Ure, because trolls do not want to really know the truth, they simply want to hurt others. They believe that posting disparaging remarks re his feelings for his beloved wife Joanie will make others feel as they do. They couldn't be more wrong! The troll in question also admits to being homophobic and proud of it, so that tells you the level of person we are dealing with. Other YouTubers see him/her for exactly what he is, a pathetic, nasty little person trying to get attention. Having said that though, it is most upsetting to all who love Jeremy, for the wonderful man that he was and is. A beautiful spirit that showed love, compassion, caring for not only his fellow human beings, but also our animal friends.

It is people like you that help keep him alive and I thank you most sincerely for that. To NOT have a picture of Jeremy as Holmes displayed is beyond belief!!! Many thanks for writing a letter to complain. If I can be of help in this matter, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Thank you, I'm very glad Jeremy's journal helped you to feel better. I know he never fails me. :) I also hope that your health, your doctor's visit, etc., go well for you.

I friended you and thank you once again, Judi.
Lovely to meet...
All my best,
Jennifer ^_^

Yeas ago on Sunday afternoons ITV3 were showing Sherlock, at that time I was well and working, so Sundays were spent cleaning out my numerous charges, so never had time to stop and watch them although my partner was. I asked about the actor as I thought he was good, having read the canon six times and forming my own idea of Holmes. Dave told me who he was, but also said he had died of a broken heart after the death of his wife. I found I couldn't watch it as I felt if I did I would In Jeremy's words 'drown in his beauty', I felt that something was there waiting for the right moment to swallow me, to help this man who was unable to keep his memory alive. Then one Sunday nothing was on tv, I asked if we could watch one of the series, the time must have been right, 'cos I drowned in his acting! and his presence. I read a book about him, Terry Manners ugh! then read what I could from the Brettish empire. Then my friends husband for Christmas last year sent me THREE discs all about Jeremy that he had downloaded as a thank you for 'saving his life'. The first time I heard him sing, Swoon!! T got round Dave to get us on the internet, as I had a computer. And I am so glad I did, finding others who LOVE him the way I do. I treated myself to Linda's wonderful book, now I know what Jeremy was really like, not Manners twisted idea.

Now I seem to have loved him since the'70s as I remember those mannequin dummys, I wasted so much time just staring at the three in a local shop window! (I even wanted to buy one)
I wish I could have met him to thank him for giving me a reason to be me, as I can't I buy him a bunch of red roses every week, my mum died about the same time as Jeremy, so I make two trips to St Albans Abbey to light candles for them. I have written to Linda thanking her for all she has done for him and aways say a prayer for her.
