My dad was born on Christmas day, 1933. My mom was born on June 9, 1941. They were married on November 13, 1960. Mom died on November 20, 2006 the week of thanksgiving and my dad died on August 7, 2007. Dad always said he'd never had a birthday cake before he married my mom. Our family would celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve so that we could open his birthday presents on Christmas Day (now mind you he was 6 foot, 6 inches and my mom was 5 foot four inches so how did i only come out to be five feet tall???)
You would think I'd be over it after two years, but I still miss both of them a lot. It just didn't seem to be the same opening presents today without either of them here. But I know that wherever they are I'm sure they're having a huge party to celebrate with lots of Marzipan, Rice Pudding and Perogies.
My husband gave me seasons one and two of BONES, seasons One and Two of Angel and the Weight Watchers scale I've been wanting for over a year. He also got me some StarBlazers figurines and my Hikaru Ichijo doll from Macross Do You Remember Love. My girlfriend
edieindira gave me a beautiful quilt and a handmade christmas ornament.
Since we don't have immediate family nearby and I managed to get a nasty cold I finally got all the christmas cards done (ok, so they're going to be very late) and I'm getting some well overdue filing done as well (as in bills that should have been filed in 2008 after they were paid). Hopefully I'll have everything in order so that we can get to the accountant early this year and get the taxes done.
Not sure if I will attempt to go out tomorrow either even though I'm feeling a bit better - It's the day after christmas and EVERYONE will be out for the after Christmas sales and trying to return everything they didn't want (Oh how I DON'T miss those days from working at KMART). Maybe the hubby and I will do a movie instead.
Merry Christmas to all!
