Catching

It seems that the last dozen or so of my entries have always started with an apology for not having written lately. My apology tends to sound hollow in the more recent ones because the apology didn't seem to change my behavior.

So, having been away from Live Journal for a while, for all intents and purposes, I've learned that the friendships I made here were something that I missed. Some of you found me on Facebook, and so we have still kept "in touch" but Facebook is such a scam. You don't make friendships there like you do here. And it's all a shill for Mark Zuckerberg. He sells our pages to marketers, so that's why after you've done a google search for "girdles" you'll start seeing old lady lingerie advertisements on your Facebook page.

Let's see what's happened in the past few years.

Family:

Bill has been retired for almost two years. He still has no intention of going back to work. He enjoys his life too much as it is now. I, on the other hand, have always wanted a wife and I must say, Bill is a good one. He does all the housework and cooking. He also volunteers one day a week at Jonathan's school playing the guitar for their weekly mass. In addition to that, he plays guitar for a weekly Bible group and our church's music liturgy. Good times. And two days a week he tutors one of my juniors in math; so you can see he's keeping his mathing skills up to speed.

Cassie and Brandon bought a beautiful home in St. Augustine very near by the kid's school. They're holding on to their condo still and renting it out until the market improves a little more. Cassie isn't teaching at Orange Park High School any longer. She transferred to Creekside High in St. John's County, much closer to her home. She loves the school and is teaching English. Brandon has changed jobs a few times in the past year, each job better than the one before. He's gotten several different certifications that makes him more valuable/marketable in the job market. Keagan turned 10 in January (can you believe it?) He's such a wonderful, dear child. He reminds me a lot of Cassie when she was little. Rowan will be 8 in April and looks just like I did at that age. She's a very light hearted and wise little girl.

Jonathan and Monica are doing well. He's working at a local parochial school teaching religion to all the middle schoolers. He loves his job. Monica teaches third grade at the elementary school right near our house. She seems to love her work, too. She and Jon got married in 2015 and they became parents in 2016. Aaron Joseph is a joy. He's now going on two (birthday April 23rd) and Bill and I spend a lot of time with him. He's a lot of fun and he loves his Grandmomma.

My mom is doing great living in her retirement community. She's 94 years old and still has her health and mind. The only thing she's running out of is money. When I retire, she's going to move in with us. I'm looking forward to it. She's mellowed out in her older age.

OB's still kicking it! He's 16 years old. SIXTEEN! He can't hear. He can't see too well. He's got arthritis but he still greets me with a wagging tail when I get home in the evening. He still enjoys walking around the yard, sniffing the breeze, and enjoying the sun light on his back. And he loves his dog biscuits and dog food. Well, he likes any food, really.

I'm still teaching but I'm a year away from retirement. I'm teaching business classes now -- where I started back in the 70s.

That's about it for now..
