My oldest son, now 20 years old, graduated at the top of his class, a section leader and with honors from the Naval bootcamp a few weeks ago. Andre' is now at his 'A' School in MS. He is learning aviation mechanics. After he graduates from his 'A' School he will be shipped off to Japan. I am so very, very proud of him.
My children have had a very difficult life, to say the least. I am so happy that my son is not allowing my poor decision making to adversely affect his life anymore.
Andre' still dreams of becoming the greatest film maker of all time. I believe that he will achieve his dream. He is using the military as a stepping stone. I raised one smart cookie. I can not put into words what it means to have survived all the horrid crap that we, myself and my children, have survived, and to see that my children have grown into these beautiful, intelligent, compassionate, passionate and awesome adults. There really are no words. What can be more important than living up to my responsibility as a parent? No excuses, just do it. I think Nike is really onto something with that slogan.
Although my life is at best a hazy kind of exsistence, for the moment, this will change soon, my son is living his dreams. That is more than most people can say.
Take care my cherished friends.
