Second year end meme!

Jan 01, 2015 18:16

Hope your new years started out in a good way! :D Mine did!

This meme is long, so I'll cut it...

1:What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?
I... um... nothing that I can remember right now.

2:Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I can't even remember if I made any last year, and if so, what they were. This year, my new year's resolution is to study more Japanese. Nothing specific about a schedule or anything, because I know that I will fail if I do it that detailed.

3:Did anyone close to you give birth?
Actually, I just found out (through the only communication we have: a xmas card) that my half sister had a third child on Halloween.

4:Did anyone close to you die?
Yep. My abusive ex bf.

5:What countries did you visit?
I didn't.

6:What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
Financial stability, love, joy, and energy.

7:What dates from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'm bad at dates, but I will forever remember the day I found out my ex is dead. Such a relief for me, and the feeling of being able to move forward in a way that would otherwise have been impossible.

8:What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Surviving? Not giving up even when everything looked completely hopeless. Also, setting my brother and my best friend up together! :)

9:What was your biggest failure?
Hmm. I would have liked to lose weight... and write more. Also, learn much much more Japanese! I hate that I'm still on this ridiculous beginner level! Why do I learn so slowly????

10:Did you suffer illness or injury?
The usual pernicious anemia, this time also paired with regular iron deficiency. God dammit, but anemia is not as simple or romantic in real life as in Japanese dramas, where a girl faints in class, is carried to school nurse and sleeps for an hour in a bed, and is then totally all right again, while nurse explains "oh it's just a little anemia" to her friends. Gah! I've had to sit down on the kitchen floor, because I was too exhausted to stand while waiting for the water for pasta to boil! It took me minutes to climb the three stairs up to my apartment because I had to stop to rest! Also, mindnumbing depression, alternating with freak-out anxiety and panic attacks, plus ptsd flashbacks. Joy.

11:What was the best thing you bought?
I've not been able to buy anything on my own. But I borrowed money from my mum to buy membership in the GazettE's fanclub. :)

12:Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My brother, who has become a fabulous person over the year, and with whom I've become really close. :)

13:Whose behaviour made you appalled?
The people who rented my parents' old house. Jesus what scumbags and terrible dirty people! Keeping hens in the living room? Letting the dogs pee and poop inside the house? Not cleaning anything for a whole year? *shudder*

14:Where did most of your money go?
I've had no money. My mum's disability check has gone to my rent and food.

15:What did you get really, really, really excited about?
A couple of things: My brother marrying one of my best friends! When my parents' old house was finally sold! My arsehole abusive ex being dead! (Terrible thing to say, but, yeah...) Becoming a GazettE fc member and pre-ordering fc only DVD box!

16:What song will always remind you of 2014?
Not sure... maybe Devouring One Another, because I have absolutely adored that song all year.

17:Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?
Happier, because things have finally turned around. Fatter, I think, or about the same. I'd hoped I would be thinner, but ah well. About the same for finances, but finally with a brighter looking future and knowledge that I will start getting a salary again!

18:What do you wish you’d done more of?
Studying Japanese, writing, having more sex. ;)

19:What do you wish you’d done less of?
Being sick and depressed.

20:How did you spend Christmas?
With my family (parents and brother), cooking together, eating, talking, laughing, sleeping. LOL It was good.

21:Did you fall in love in 2014?
Nope. :(

22:What was your favourite TV program?
How to Get Away with Murder

23:Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No. I don't do hate. Hate only poisons the hater mostly, and I don't want to give people who don't deserve my attention that kind of power. They're better ignored.

24:What was the best book you read?
Like I said in the other meme, I haven't been able to read almost any books. Too stressed. But, Making Sense of Japanese is bloody excellent, even if it was a re-read.

25:What was your greatest musical discovery?
Not sure I really had one. I just keep loving the GazettE, and other VK bands...

26:What did you want and get?
Freedom. It's not fully manifested yet, since no money etc, and I have to integrate it all, but there is now not really anything to hold me back.

27:What did you want and not get?
Financial stability. Love.

28:What was your favourite film of this year?
I guess not really anyone. Most I've watched has been stuff I've seen before or TV shows.

29:What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
The ex being no more. He's controlled me and my life for far too many years, first while we were together, and then just as many years after that. So to have that ended, and me having to face a different reality, one where he doesn't exist, is incredible, but also very challenging. Can't hide, can't use abuse as "convenient" excuse to not do things I am afraid of but want to do.

30:How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
Can I afford it? Is it in my closet, black, and I can still fit into it? Then I wear it.

31:What kept you sane?
I'm not sure. My family and friends? Watching numerous GazettE live DVDs, at least two-three times a week...

32:Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
As always, Uruha. But, he's had a rival in Ruki, because Ruki is just much more out there, with social media and all. So he feels more... available? Real? And he gives a little more of a look inside his creative process and thinking.

33:What political issue stirred you the most?
Ugh. :( We had elections in my country, and even though 13% voted for the politically unpopular party, other parties has been stubborn and childish in openly refusing to even talk to them. Doesn't matter if you don't like their politics, lots of people voted for them, so you can't just ignore them while paying attention to a party only 4% voted for! Also, terrible things happening in the world. :(

34:Who did you miss?
Not sure... I've been thinking a little about former friends, people I don't talk to/who don't talk to me anymore, seeing them pop up on FB sometimes, but it's more of a vague melancholy now rather than sadness.

35:Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
I think I need more perspective at this point to answer this question. I'm still in a weird turmoil after the things that have happened the last two months.
